Axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) is a chronic inflammatory disease predominantly of the sacroiliac joint (SIJ) and the spine. It starts normally in the second decade of life and has a slight male predominance. The prevalence is between 0.2% and 0.8% and is strongly dependent on the prevalence of HLA-B27 in a given population.

✓ A technique for visualization of the axial ventricular structures has proved to be useful in stereotaxic surgery. The method incorporates a surgical approach through a coronal burr hole, a Seletz rubber ventricular cannula for catheterization, Conray as the contrast medium, and an x-ray technique in which the tube and not the patient's head is mobile.

Axial and para-axial fluorophotometry in glaucoma simplex
International Ophthalmology, 1992In this fluorophotometric study, in 25 eyes with middle advanced stages of glaucoma simplex (visual field defects ranged from 500 dB to 800 dB) and treated with topical antiglaucomatous agents, the posterior vitreous penetration ratio (PVPR) was compared with that from normal subjects. Vitreous fluorophotometry (Fluorotron Master, Coherent) was used to

Analysis on Axial Magnetic Force of Permanent Axial Bearing by Axial Magnetized
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012Permanent magnet axial bearing axial stiffness analysis is critical in the design process of permanent magnetic bearing. This article establishes the axial magnetic model through the equivalent magnetic charge method, but the equivalent magnetic charge method solving the axial force need work out four complicated quadruple integrals.

Axial spondyloarthritis manifests as a chronic inflammatory disease primarily affecting the sacroiliac joints and spine. Although chronic back pain and spinal stiffness are typical initial symptoms, peripheral (ie, enthesitis, arthritis, and dactylitis) and extra-musculoskeletal (ie, uveitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and psoriasis) manifestations ...

The Axial Age, Axiality, and the Missionary Enterprise
International Bulletin of Mission Research, 2016This article reviews recent literature on the Axial Age as a phase of world history and seeks to illuminate the role of Christian missionaries as part of this broad perspective. Introduced by Karl Jaspers in 1949, the concept has attracted attention from scholars interested in human development.

what is axial about the axial age?
European Journal of Sociology, 2005the idea of an axial age in the mid-first millennium b.c. has a long history but was crystallized by karl jaspers in his 1949 book the meaning and goal of history. since then, voegelin, eisenstadt and many others have contributed to clarifying the four cases of axial “breakthrough”, to use jaspers's term, namely ancient israel, greece, india, and china.

Axial and para-axial fluorophotometry in diabetic macular edema
International Ophthalmology, 1995The vitreous fluorophotometric examinations were used in nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy to recognize early diabetic macular edema. Thanks to additional fixation light, axial and para-axial fluorophotometry in patients with nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy was achieved (Fluorotron Master, Coherent).

Polychromatic axial behavior of axial apodizing and hyperresolving filters
Applied Optics, 1990The polychromatic behavior in defocused planes produced by different types of axial apodizing and hyperresolvingfilter is studied. The image quality is determined by comparing the illuminance and chromaticity distributions of the aberration free system with different filters and without a filter. The comparison is done in equivalent planes according to

Sarcoidosis of the Axial Skeleton
Clinical Nuclear Medicine, 1994Sarcoidosis of the bones in the hands and feet is not uncommon. However, sarcoidosis involving the axial skeleton is unusual. The authors present the case of a 37-year-old man with sarcoidosis who developed low-back pain. Radionuclide bone scan demonstrated abnormalities in the pelvis, spine, and scapulae.
