Axial compression behavior of concrete-encased cellular steel columns
Journal of Constructional Steel Research, 2020Abstract This paper presents an axial compression behavior of bare and concrete-encased cellular steel (CECS) short columns. Three cellular steel configurations with different hole diameters and spacings were fabricated from the parent wide-flange hot-rolled steel shape.

Tension and Compression Behavior of Axially Loaded Members
2015Members subjected to axial tension at the geometric centers of their cross sections are called axially tensioned members. Typical examples in reinforced concrete structures include tensioned web elements and bottom chords in trusses, tie bars in arches, walls of internally pressured tubes, and sidewalls of tanks.

Time-Dependent Behavior of Axially Compressed RC Column
2018Short-term and long-term behavior of axially compressed RC column is presented in this paper. Rheology of concrete is studied on a typical symmetrically reinforced cross-section. Reliable assessment of creep and shrinkage deformations is essential in verification of serviceability limit state.

Cyclic Behavior of Actively Confined Rubberized Concrete Under Axial Compression
2019This study presents the results of an experimental study on the cyclic compressive behavior of rubberized concrete under active confinement. Two different mixes of concretes with rubber replacement ratios of 0%, as a control mix, and 18% were prepared.

Behavior of ECC-encased CFST columns under axial compression
Engineering Structures, 2018Abstract This paper presents an experimental study on the mechanical behaviors of engineered cementitious composite (ECC)-encased concrete filled steel tube (CFST) columns under axial loading. Six specimens, including four ECC-encased CFST columns and two concrete-encased CFST columns were tested.

Axial compression behavior of thin-walled mild steel tubes subjected to axial impact
2021The finite element computations were performed on ABAQUS/Explicit solver to study the effect of wall thickness on axial crushing and energy absorption of the mild steel tubes under axial impact. Circular tube (60 mm diameter) and square tube (47.34 mm size) with varying wall thicknesses (1.1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, and 3 mm) were impacted axially by 5 kg ...

Contributions to Understanding the Behavior of Axially Compressed Cylinders
Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1999An elastic nonlinear Ritz analysis is used to investigate the behavior of axially loaded imperfect cylindrical shells. It is shown how the initially positive contributions arising from the shells membrane energy are eroded with increasing levels of both deformations and imperfections.

Behavior of curved laminated composite panels and shells under axial compression
Progress in Aerospace Sciences, 2015Abstract The buckling and post-buckling behavior of curved cylindrical stringer-stiffened laminated composite and metal panels had been investigated both numerically and experimentally. The results were compared to those of cylindrical stringer-stiffened laminated composite shells to yield a way of determining the optimal structure to be used for ...
