Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

The Axial Compression Behavior of Basalt Fiber-Reinforced Recycled Aggregate Concrete-Filled Circular Steel-Tubular Column

open access: yes, 2023
Recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) technology has received a lot of attention as a green environmental protection technology. However, the unsatisfactory mechanical behavior of RAC restricts its application in engineering practice. The structure of basalt

α‐Synuclein aggregation landscape from phase separation to neurotoxic intermediates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Alpha‐synuclein aggregation in Parkinson's disease involves a complex landscape of transient intermediates, including oligomers, fibrils and liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS). A view is emerging in which LLPS maturation into solid‐like condensates may contribute to the formation of neurotoxic species.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Axial Compression-Flexure Interaction Behavior of Hybrid FRP-Strengthened Columns

open access: yes, 2019
Fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites are widely used for strengthening of reinforced concrete (RC) elements under different loading conditions. This paper aims at understanding the axial compression-bending moment (P-M) interaction behavior of RC ...

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

Behavior of concrete-filled FRP tubes under cyclic axial compression

open access: yes, 2015
Concrete-filled fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) tubes (CFFTs) are an attractive form of hybrid compression members incorporating FRP. CFFTs have several advantages over traditional column forms, including their excellent corrosion resistance and ductility.
