Effect of Blade Slot Positioning Close to Blade Root on the Performance of Highly Loaded Helium Compressor [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics
The helium compressor has the inherent characteristics of a lower single-stage pressure ratio and a higher number of stages than an air compressor. The highly loaded design method effectively addressed the compressibility issue of the helium compressor ...

Unsteady transonic flows in an axial flow compressor [PDF]

open access: yesQuarterly of Applied Mathematics, 1985
We deal with some transonic flow problems for the supersonic axial flow compressor: these arise in connection with flutter analysis for fan blading. We treat the subject from the point of view of boundary value problems for the reduced wave equations of supersonic and subsonic flow, with particular reference to (a) the rotor in a finite duct and (b) a ...

Enhancement of the Through‐Thickness Electrical Conductivity of Carbon‐Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Using Large Graphite Particles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
To enhance through‐thickness conductivity without sacrificing impregnation, large spherical graphite particles are intentionally employed in a low‐viscosity resin. Unlike finer conductive fillers, these particles remain outside the fiber bundles and accumulate in resin‐rich interlaminar regions during molding.

Rotary 3D Printing With Integrated Electroplating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A rotary material extrusion platform integrates localized copper electroplating with printing and encapsulation to fabricate cylindrical polymer–metal structures containing fully embedded, low‐resistance conductive pathways that enable internal Joule heating and thermally activated shape‐memory responses.

Stall Delay and Performance Enhancement in a Transonic Axial Compressor Using Self-Recirculating Flow Control

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering
Two passive self-recirculating flow control designs were manufactured and tested on a single stage transonic axial compressor with the goal of improving stall margin with a minimal penalty to efficiency where previous axial slot and circumferential ...

Oscillatory Tip Leakage Flows and Stability Enhancement in Axial Compressors

open access: yesInternational Journal of Rotating Machinery, 2018
Rotating stall axial compressor is a difficult research field full of controversy. Over the recent decades, the unsteady tip leakage flows had been discovered and confirmed by several research groups independently.

A Multi‐Scale Machine Learning Framework for the Inverse Design of High Entropy Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐entropy alloys offer vast potential for various applications, including electrocatalysis; however, their compositional complexity challenges conventional screening. We introduce an inverse‐design framework combining two neural networks to determine optimal compositions and reconstruct nanoparticle geometry from targeted properties and conventional

MULTI-OBJECTIVE OPTIMIZATION IN AXIAL COMPRESSOR DESIGN USING A LINKED CFD-SOLVER [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In combination with a multi-objective 3D optimization strategy, a linked CFD-solver is introduced in this paper, combining 3D-Reynolds-averaged-Navier-Stokes and an inviscid through-flow method.
