Comparative Study of Axial Flux Magnetically Geared Machine with Conventional Axial Flux YASA Machine

2018 IEEE International Magnetics Conference (INTERMAG), 2018
Magnetic gears (MGs) have recently been proposed to replace conventional mechanical gears in various electromechanical systems. MGs have competitive torque transmission capability compared with their mechanical counterpart[1]. Moreover, by integrating an MG into a conventional PM machine, a magnetically geared machine has emerged, greatly broadening ...

Dynamic analysis of axial-type magnetic gear employing 3-D FEM

Digests of the 2010 14th Biennial IEEE Conference on Electromagnetic Field Computation, 2010
This paper describes the efficiency characteristics on magnetic gears operating with axial magnetic flux employing the 3-D finite element method (FEM). The validity of this calculation is verified by carrying out the measurement on a prototype.

Optimal design of a novel axial flux magnetically geared PM machine

2017 Twelfth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER), 2017
In this paper, a novel axial flux magnetically geared machine (AFMG) is presented. The proposed AFMG machine consists of stator segments equipped with concentrated windings and two permanent magnet (PM) rotors with different pole-pair numbers. The proposed AFMG offers the merit of simple mechanical structure and is suitable for applications with ...

Modeling of an axial-type magnetic gear using a reluctance-based magnetic equivalent circuit

2016 IEEE Conference on Electromagnetic Field Computation (CEFC), 2016
This paper presents a new steady-state model of an axial-type magnetic gear (ATMG) employing a 2D magnetic equivalent circuit (MEC) based on reluctance networks (RN). The MEC approach combines reasonable accuracy with moderate computational effort. This is a new model that will allow a faster analysis and design for the ATMG.

Effect of Permanent Magnet Shape in High-Speed Rotor on the Performance of a Magnetic Gear

International Electric Machines and Drives Conference
In this paper, radial flux type co-axial magnetic gears (MG) with different shapes of permanent magnets (PM) on the high speed rotor are compared to investigate the effect of PM shape on the performance of MG. The MGs are modelled and simulated by finite
