Slipper Balance in Axial Piston Pumps and Motors
Journal of Tribology, 1992The paper presents the results of an experimental and theoretical investigation of the effect of clamping ratio and orifice size on the performance of slippers in axial piston pumps and motors. Polishing of the running face to a slightly convex form appears to be essential for successful operation under all conditions. It is shown that slippers operate

Experimental Simulation of Piston Leakage in an Axial Piston Pump
Fluid Power Systems and Technology, 2005A method used to introduce “artificial leakage” into an axial piston pump to simulate leakage from a worn piston is described in this paper. A pressure control servo valve with a very high frequency response was employed to divert flow from the pump outlet in a prescribed waveform directly to tank.

The Cavitation Issue in Asymmetrical Axial-Piston Pumps
Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement, and Control, 2022Abstract Pump-controlled single-rod hydraulic actuators have long been the subject of intensive research toward building valve-less, more efficient systems. The main challenge is to deal with the uneven flows into and out of the differential cylinders.

The kinematic analysis of axial-piston pumps
Mechanism and Machine Theory, 1983Abstract This investigation describes the kinematics of axial hydraulic pumps with spherical ended pistons. The results, however, apply to the basic kinematics of all axial piston pumps. The current hypothesis is that sliding at the piston/swash plate interface contributes to the wear of these parts.
