Thermo‐Mechanically Recyclable Smart Textiles from Circularly Knitted Liquid Crystal Elastomer Fibers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 37, 7 May 2026.
Reprogrammable multi‐material smart textiles knitted from liquid crystal elastomer fibers undergo 2D and 3D deformation under thermal and photo stimuli. Circularly knitted tubular structures reversibly contract in radial and axial directions, enabling autonomous climbing, liquid release, and micro pumping.

A study on various methods of supplying propellant to an orbit insertion rocket engine [PDF]

open access: yes
Various types of pumps and pump drives were evaluated to determine the lightest weight system for supplying propellants to a planetary orbit insertion rocket engine. From these analyses four candidate propellant feed systems were identified. Systems Nos.

In‐Field Validity and Inter‐Unit Variability of Metabolic Carts During Simulated Exercise

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Medicine &Science in Sports, Volume 36, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT The present study had three main objectives: (a) to evaluate the in‐field validity of different commercially available cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) systems when used by end‐users following typical calibration procedures, (b) to measure the variability in accuracy among identical CPET units, and (c) to explore the relationship ...

Experimental studies on thermodynamic effects of developed cavitation [PDF]

open access: yes
A method for predicting thermodynamic effects of cavitation (changes in cavity pressure relative to stream vapor pressure) is presented. The prediction method accounts for changes in liquid, liquid temperature, flow velocity, and body scale.

Real-time simulation of gap flow in the valve plate/cylinder block pair of axial piston pumps based on a POD-Kriging surrogate model

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics
The efficiency and lifespan of axial piston pumps are significantly influenced by the valve plate/cylinder block pair due to its large contact area and harsh load-bearing conditions.

Optimum step design for centering of pistons moving in an incompressible fluid [PDF]

open access: yes
Hydrodynamic effects are analyzed for a stepped piston moving within a tight clearance tube filled with an incompressible fluid. Hydrostatic effects are analyzed and a complete solution is obtained and an optimum step design for centering of the piston ...

The High Speed Water Tunnel three-component balance [PDF]

open access: yes, 1955
An experimental program was initiated in the High Speed Water Tunnel to measure force coefficients for hydrofoils under cavitating conditions. This program necessitated either a new force balance or a major modification of the existing one.

Team One Carbon Catcher Design Report [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Overview The burning of fossil fuels largely contributes to the increase of CO2 in the atmosphere. The US Department of Transportation alone contributed almost 6 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions in 2018 (EIA).
