Research on wear prediction of piston/cylinder pair in axial piston pumps [PDF]

open access: yesWear, 2020
Abstract The piston/cylinder pair is the critical lubricating interface of axial piston pumps. It suffers from excessive wear, especially under high output pressure. The performance degradation of the piston/cylinder pair is significant to be clarified. In this paper, a wear prediction method of the piston/cylinder pair is established by coupling the

Subvoxel Control of Fiber Orientation via Multidirectional Shearing in 3D Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel 3D printing technique enables subvoxel control of fiber orientation in all three directions through multidirectional shearing using nozzle rotation and inclination. It allows localized and tunable mechanical and thermal responses through programmable microstructures within a strand.

Improved Direct Ink Writing of Liquid Metal Foams via Liquid Additives

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
The ability to pattern liquid metal is useful for making soft electrical and thermal devices. Dispensing liquid metal from a nozzle naturally results in the formation of spheroidal droplets, making direct‐write printing challenging. Liquid metal foams containing pockets of air can extrude as filaments, albeit inconsistently.

Vented piston seal prevents fluid leakage between two chambers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1964
To prevent fluid leakage around piston seals separating two fluids under differential pressure, a venting system has been devised. Two methods may be used for venting seals through internal passages to an external low-pressure area, O-ring or split-ring ...
