Axial ratios of hexagonal metals

Journal of Physics C: Solid State Physics, 1970
Calculations of the equilibrium axial ratios of beryllium, magnesium, zinc and cadmium based on the optimized model potential are compared. The condition for a large axial ratio is examined. A recent empirically determined change in the normalized energy- wavenumber characteristic in the structure region for zinc and cadmium helps to satisfy this ...

Axial ratio of cellulose ether‐esters

Die Makromolekulare Chemie, 1957
AbstractAxial ratios of palmitoyl, myristoyl, lauroyl, caprinyl and caproyl methyl ethyl celluloses have been measured by viscometric method using SIMHA's equation. A theoretical analysis from the geometry of the molecules using MARK and BADGLEY's method shows that agreement between calculated and experimental length and breadth values could only be ...

Relationship between monocytes to lymphocytes ratio and axial spondyloarthritis

International Immunopharmacology, 2018
Axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) is a progressive, chronic, inflammatory skeletal disorder affecting the spine and sacroiliac joints. Many studies have shown that neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, platelets, and red blood cells (RBCs) play important roles in the inflammatory process of axSpA.

Axial ratios of plane sections through tri-axial ellipsoids

Journal of Sedimentary Research, 1971
ABSTRACT The mean width length ratio of two-dimensional planar sections through a tri-axial ellipsoid with principle axes, a, b and c (abc) corresponds approximately to Folk's "effective settling sphericity," c2/ab 3 .

Optimization Of The Axial And Extra-Axial Strehl Ratio In Aberrant Systems By Apodization Filters

SPIE Proceedings, 1987
The effect of the amplitude and phase filters on the response of the optical systems with residual aberrations has been studied during the last years i.e. 1,2) . In these works the results for axial and extra-axial aberrations are considered separately.

Comparison of contrast-to-noise ratios of axial strain, shear modulus, and inverse of shear modulus estimated by axial strain ratio

IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control, 2009
Occasionally, an axial strain image is dealt with as an image of relative shear modulus. However, we previously confirmed that the imaging of the 1-D relative shear modulus reconstruction obtained by the ratio of the axial strain in the axial direction (i.e., axial strain ratio) can yield a larger contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) than that of the axial ...

An Axial Magnetic Gear Design with Changeable Ratios

2018 8th IEEE International Conference on Control System, Computing and Engineering (ICCSCE), 2018
Recent developments in the field of magnetic gear and magnetic gearing machines have opened up innumerable opportunities for engineers and researchers. Conventional mechanical gears require direct mechanical contact between the drive and driven toothed wheels, which gives rise to problems such as wear, breakages and noise.

Inclinations and axial ratios of spiral and irregular galaxies

Publications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, 1988
Among galaxies with redshifts ≤ 500 km s-1^ spirals are found to have random orientations, whereas irregulars exhibit a highly significant excess of objects with 30deg^

On the axial ratios of simple hexagonal alloys of tin

Philosophical Magazine, 1969
Abstract Abstract The dependence of total energy upon axial ratio is studied for the simple hexagonal structure, with particular reference to the many alloys of Sn for which this structure occurs. The Ewald energy is found to be minimized at c/a=0·928, and a simple qualitative explanation is given.
