Ultrasound of the Axial Skeleton
1989A method of measuring the oblique sagittal diameter of the spinal canal was introduced in 1978 (Porter et al. 1978) and many thousands of patients and volunteer subjects have now been examined. The technique employs a two-dimensional display of echoes, the B-scan (Fig. 15.1) demonstrating vertebral body and laminar echoes.
