Programmable Axial Spectral Evolution of Space-Time Wavepackets
Frontiers in Optics / Laser Science, 2020Controllable axial spectral encoding is shown via selective amplitude-modulation of a space-time wave packet. Arbitrarily-varying spectra along the optic axis could act as a ‘spectral stamp,’ with potential applications in axial rangefinding or remote-sensing.

Buckling of an Axially Compressed Incompressible Half Space∗
Journal of Structural Mechanics, 1983ABSTRACT Symmetric and nonsymmetric buckling solutions are obtained for an axially compressed half space. The half space is assumed to be made of a general in compressible isotropic elastic material. Solutions are made possible via the use of a direct approach that does not employ conventional Fourier-analysis calculations.

Linearization procedure for cylindrically and axially symmetric space-times
General Relativity and Gravitation, 1982An investigation of the vacuum Einstein gravitational field equations for cylindrically and axially symmetric space-times is presented which leads to an equivalent differential system involving a simple nonlinearity only. The case when this equivalent system is linear is analyzed in detail and two methods for generating solutions of the Einstein vacuum

Free-space measurement of bi-axial anisotropic materials
6th International SYmposium on Antennas, Propagation and EM Theory, 2003. Proceedings. 2003, 2003This paper presents an extension of the free-space method for measurement of bi-axial anisotropic material at microwave frequencies. In this method, four complex transverse constitutive parameters are directly computed from the reflection and transmission coefficients of a planar sample in free space for a normally incident plane wave with two ...

This chapter investigates the nature of Axial Parts (AxPs)/Relational nouns(RelN) and their relationship with Grounds in spatial expressions and beyond. We argue that the relation between AxPs and Grounds is predicative. We challenge the view that prepositions inherently encode

Reflective correctors for the Hubble Space Telescope axial instruments
Applied Optics, 1993Reflective correctors to compensate the spherical aberration in the Hubble Space Telescope are placed in front of three of the axial scientific instruments (a camera and two spectrographs) during the first scheduled refurbishment mission. The five correctors required are deployed from a new module that replaces the fourth axial instrument.

The space groups of axial crystals and quasicrystals
Reviews of Modern Physics, 1991We compute all the three-dimensional quasicrystallographic space groups with n-fold axial point groups and standard lattices by a method that treats crystals and quasicrystals on an equal footing. We do not rely on projecting higher-dimensional crystallographic space groups, our results are valid for arbitrary n, and our analysis is elementary.

Axial Lyric Space in Two Late Songs
2016Abstract The deserved prestige of Der Winterreise and Schwanengesang distracts from the many other extraordinary songs of Schubert’s final years. This essay considers two of these late songs, ‘Im Freien’ (1826) and ‘Der Winterabend’ (1828), as consummate examples of the composer’s late style and considers how and why it differs from the ...

4-Webs on hypersurfaces of 4-axial space
Journal of Mathematical Sciences, 2011V. B. Lazareva investigated 3-webs formed by shadow lines on a surface embedded in 3-dimensional projective space and assumed that the lighting sources are situated on 3 straight lines. The results were used, in particular, for the solution of the Blaschke problem of classification of regular 3-webs formed by pencils of circles in a plane.

Does the axial vector current influence space-time?
Lettere al Nuovo Cimento, 1972In part icle physics the axial vector current, together with the vector current, has p layed an impor tant role in current algebras (1) and chiral dynamics (2). Does i t p lay any role in other branch of physics? In this let ter we argue tha t the axial vector current, along with the energy-momentum tensor, of the spin89 baryons and leptons may ...
