The Axial Flow Turbine

1981
The turbine is used to extract energy from a flowing stream of gas and has the general characteristics introduced in section 1.3. In the axial flow turbine, the gas flows through an annular passage surrounding the rotating power output shaft, in a direction substantially parallel to the axis of the shaft.

Workflow Optimization of Multistage Axial Turbine

51st AIAA/SAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference, 2015
The article presents the search results of the configuration of 4.5 stage axial turbine to improve its efficiency. The search was conducted by means of numerical models of the turbine and the methods of mathematical optimization. The used computational model was thoroughly verified.

Axial Compressors and Turbines

2012
With the definition of the work coefficient in (6.4a) and (6.4b), we can now write from (4.22a) to (4.22d) the nondimensional azimuthal velocity component expressions as follows: $$ \frac{{{{c}_{\rm{u1}}}}}{u} = \left( {1 - \hat{r}} \right) - \frac{\Psi}{4} $$ $$ \frac{{{{c}_{\rm{u2}}}}}{u} = \left( {1 - \hat{r}} \right) + \frac{\Psi}{4} $$

The Axial Vibration of Turbine Disks

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1945
Abstract The theoretical basis for calculation of disk vibrations developed by Stodola leaves a wide gap to be supplied between theory and useful procedure. This paper outlines a method by which the designer may obtain useful results without resorting to complicated procedures and with a minimum of empirical modifications. Taking Stodola’

Throughflow analysis of axial flow turbines

Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 1983
Abstract The development of a streamline curvature throughflow program to predict the flow through an axial flow turbine is described. The program can be used to predict the performance of the turbine at both design and off-design conditions. Comparison of the predictions of the program with flow measurements in a single-stage and in a two-stage ...

Small Axial Turbine Stage Cooling Investigation

1971
Abstract : The report describes an investigation of advanced cooling concepts for the gas producer axial flow turbine of a small gas turbine engine. These concepts were directed toward minimizing the engine performance penalties, especially at part power, associated with conventional air cooling of the turbine.

Axial-Flow Compressors for Gas Turbines

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1948
Abstract The development of the gas turbine during the last decade has opened a new field for compressor application. The compressor is an essential component of every gas-turbine power plant. It delivers air at some elevated pressure to the burner in sufficient quantity to maintain an efficient combustion of fuel and to cool the ...

Turbines axiales en puits

1959
