Axillary artery access for demanding interventions in newborns is rarely described, in spite of the many clear advantages. This access route in newborns with critical congenital heart disease is a real alternative to the more commonly used femoral or ...

Open axillary approach alternative access for stenting of external iliac total occlusion
A primary endovascular approach is the mainstay of intervention for type C aortoiliac disease. When the femoral artery is unsuitable, upper extremity access can be critical in the setting of severe tortuosity or occlusive disease.

Venous occlusion plethysmography vs. Doppler ultrasound in the assessment of leg blood flow kinetics during different intensities of calf exercise [PDF]
PurposeIt has recently been shown that venous occlusion plethysmography (VOP) can successfully assess the rate of increase in leg blood flow (LBF) (LBF kinetics) responses during calf exercise, but there is lack of data supporting its validity ...

Fenestration of Axillary Vein by a Variant Axillary Artery
Variations of venous pattern in the arm are common. In this case report, we present a variation of axillary artery and vein. During routine educational dissections of axillary region, it was observed that a fenestrated axillary vein was perforated by a variant axillary artery in right arm of an old male cadaver.

Axillary-Axillary Artery Bypass for the Correction of Subclavian Artery Occlusive Disease
Numerous procedures have been proposed for the correction of symptomatic subclavian artery occlusive disease, none of which have been uniformly accepted by vascular surgeons. During the past 21 months we have successfully treated six patients with symptomatic subclavian artery occlusive disease by the construction of an axillary-axillary artery bypass.

Bilateral axillary arterial obstruction [PDF]
A 74-year-old patient with longstanding diabetes mellitus and hypertension presented with obstruction in both axillary arteries. Although atherosclerotic obstructive disease would have been the most likely diagnosis in this patient, clinical findings were highly suggestive of extracranial giant-cell arteritis.

Mycotic axillary artery aneurysm [PDF]
Mycotic axillary aneurysms, not commonly encountered today, are generally the consequence of arterial trauma. A case of an axillary aneurysm secondary to a septic embolus from valvular vegetations in an intravenous drug abuser was studied. The case is reminiscent of those sporadically reported cases of the preanitibiotic era.
