Anterior Approach for Axillary Nerve Reconstruction
2021A deltoid and teres minor muscle palsy can occur after an isolated axillary nerve injury or a posterior cord or upper brachial plexus injury. Several considerations should be taken into account when planning an axillary nerve reconstruction. A surgical exploration at the site of injury should be performed.

PERIPHERAL NERVE INJURY AS A COMPLICATION OF AXILLARY ARTERIOGRAPHY
Acta Neurologica Scandinavica, 2009Five patients with peripheral nerve injury after axillary arteriography are presented. The clinical and electromyographic pictures of this complication are described. In 4 patients the brachial plexus was damaged due to haematoma or pseudoaneurysm-formation at the site of the arterial puncture.

A 55-year-old lady dislocated her right shoulder following a fall. It was noted that she had reduced sensation over the “regimental badge” area. She underwent closed reduction of the dislocation in casualty under sedation. After successful reduction, the patient presented with an inability to elevate her arm and persistent numbness over the regimental ...

Mapping the axillary nerve within the deltoid muscle
Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy, 2008Reports place the frequency of axillary nerve injury at 6% for all brachial plexus injuries, emphasizing the importance of an accurate anatomic description of this nerve within the deltoid in order to reduce iatrogenic injury. The aim of the present study was to explore the anatomic variations of the axillary nerve within the deltoid muscle.
