Impact of silicone midline catheter tip location on catheter-related complications and indwelling duration: results from a multicentre randomised clinical trial in China

open access: yesBMJ Open
Objective To explore the impact of the terminal tip location of silicone midline catheter (MC, a type of intravenous catheter measuring 20–30 cm in length and inserted into upper arm veins using a modified Seldinger technique) in the subclavian vein ...

Spatial heterogeneity in exposure to Brucella suis and pathogenic leptospires in feral pigs across New South Wales

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Feral pigs (Sus scrofa) are important reservoirs for zoonotic and livestock pathogens in Australia, but robust information on the spatial distribution of pathogens in pig populations remains limited. We analysed serological data from a systematic, state‐wide surveillance program to investigate spatial heterogeneity in exposure to Brucella suis and ...

TRIM59 Drives Bladder Cancer Progression Through E3 Ligase‐Dependent K48‐Linked Degradation of PTRF

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Schematic model of TRIM59‐driven BLCA progression through K48‐linked ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation of PTRF, leading to AKT activation and c‐Myc upregulation. ABSTRACT Tripartite motif‐containing 59 (TRIM59) is an E3 ubiquitin ligase implicated in multiple malignancies, but its role in bladder cancer (BLCA) remains incompletely understood ...

Computational hemodynamic assessment of axillary and femoral artery perfusion for extracorporeal left ventricular assist device

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine
ObjectivesTraditionally, the arterial blood perfusion tube for an extracorporeal left ventricular assist device (LVAD) is placed in the femoral artery, which limits patients' mobility and increases the possibility of lower limb ischemia.

Evolutionary framework and tribal circumscription of Amaranthaceae sensu stricto based on a comprehensive phylogenomic analysis

open access: yesCladistics, EarlyView.
Abstract The evolutionary history of Amaranthaceae sensu stricto (s.s.) has been shaped by multiple whole‐genome duplications and rapid radiations, producing an ecologically diverse lineage whose internal relationships have long remained unresolved.

Safety of Lowering the Platelet Transfusion Threshold Before Central Venous Catheterisation in Patients With Haematological Diseases

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Central venous catheter (CVC) insertion is frequently required in patients with haematological diseases. Despite limited evidence, thrombocytopenia often prompts prophylactic platelet transfusion before catheterisation. Methods We conducted an observational before‐and‐after study including the first non‐tunnelled CVC insertion ...

Comparison of Resistive Index and Volume Flow in Ultrasound of Arteriovenous Fistula for Dialysis Access

open access: yesHemodialysis International, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Despite extensive investigation, the optimal method of assessing arteriovenous fistula (AV fistula) function remains elusive. Ultrasound is an important tool in the assessment of AV fistula, with a wide range of protocols and flow criteria used across the literature. However, the operator dependency of ultrasound has the potential

Irradiation‐Induced CD62L Shedding in Human Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cells Depends on ADAM17 and p38 MAPK

open access: yesImmunology, EarlyView.
Human plasmacytoid dendritic cell‐based vaccines efficiently migrate from blood to lymph nodes and prime naive T cells in humanised mice. Irradiation‐induced CD62L shedding, mediated by p38 MAP kinase and ADAM17, is involved in the regulation of PDC migration to secondary lymphoid organs in this model.

Evaluation of the Optimizing Value of Dual-energy Computed Tomography Mixed Images Combined with a 3 mL/s Contrast Agent Injection Rate in Reducing Contrast Agent Artifacts in the Axillary Vein Area during Chest and Abdomen Contrast-Enhanced Imaging

open access: yesCT Lilun yu yingyong yanjiu
Objective:To compare contrast-induced hardening artifacts of the axillary vein during the arterial phase between dual-energy CT (DECT) and single-energy CT (SECT) with different contrast agent injection rates in thoracoabdominal enhanced CT examinations,
