Definable forcing axiom: an alternative to Martin's axiom

open access: yesTopology and its Applications, 1990
In this interesting paper the second-named author describes the ideas that van Douwen and he had about possible alternatives, in the absence of the Continuum Hypothesis, to Martin's Axiom. One such alternative is their Definable Forcing Axiom (DFA), which states that if \({\mathbb{P}}\) is a `definable' ccc poset then there is a family \(\{G_{\alpha ...

Reframing and Taming Uncertainty: A Qualitative Study on Self‐Affirmation Interventions for Supporting Coping With Entrepreneurs' Insecurity

open access: yesStrategic Change, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Self‐affirmation interventions (SAIs) have garnered increasing interest from both practitioners and scholars due to their potential to help working adults cope with uncertainty and job insecurity. This interest is particularly relevant for entrepreneurs, who frequently face high levels of uncertainty and lack the organizational support ...

On the axioms of the forces in the mechanics of rigid bodies

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
Newton summarised knowledge related to forces in three axioms. The first and second ones define the mechanical state and motion of the examined body when there is no force or when force is exerted on the body.

Multi-Profile Intergenerational Social Choice [PDF]

open access: yes
Ferejohn and Page transplanted a stationarity axiom from Koopmans' theory of impatience into Arrow's social choice theory with an infinite horizon and showed that the Arrow axioms and stationarity lead to a dictatorship by the first generation.

A Relational View of Uncertainty

open access: yesStrategic Change, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT There is significant confusion and debate in entrepreneurship and strategy research about the nature and locus of uncertainty. Does uncertainty reside internally in the agent or externally in the environment? This article introduces a relational view of uncertainty (RVU) to help reframe this issue.

Association Between Body Mass Index and Depression/Anxiety in an East Asian Population: A Mendelian Randomization Study

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Obesity and psychiatric disorders are the leading causes of global morbidity. Epidemiological studies suggest a bidirectional link between higher body mass index (BMI) and mental health outcomes, but the direction of causality remains uncertain due to confounding and reverse causation. We performed a Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis using

On a generalization of Hausdorff space

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1986
Here, a new separation axiom as a generalization of that of Hausdorff is introduced. Its simple consequences and relations with some other known separation axioms are studied. That a non-indiscrete topological group satisfies this axiom is shown.
