Autonomous, high‐frequency and long‐term monitoring of substrate temperature in rocky intertidal zones

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography: Methods, EarlyView.
Abstract Intertidal zones are characterized by complex and dynamic thermal mosaics, where organisms experience extreme temperature variations influenced by microclimatic factors. However, accurately monitoring rocky shore temperatures over the long term remains challenging due to the limitations of conventional temperature loggers.

Monotone principle of forked points and its consequences [PDF]

open access: yesMathematica Moravica, 2015
This paper presents applications of the Axiom of Infinite Choice: Given any set P, there exist at least countable choice functions or there exist at least finite choice functions.

Dynamic Reusable Workflows for Ocean Science

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2016
Digital catalogs of ocean data have been available for decades, but advances in standardized services and software for catalog searches and data access now make it possible to create catalog-driven workflows that automate—end-to-end—data search, analysis,

Stochastic demand correspondences and their aggregation properties [PDF]

open access: yes
Bandyopadhyay, Dasgupta and Pattanaik [JET, 2002] have presented a construction that aggregates standard demand functions by a stochastic demand function, in such way that the latter satisfies the weak axiom of stochastic revealed preference when the ...

Simulating climate change scenarios established by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change in aquatic mesocosms

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography: Methods, EarlyView.
Abstract Climate change poses a major threat to ecosystems worldwide, with temperature changes being a key driver of ecological disruption in aquatic environments due to the limited ability of many aquatic species to relocate in response. Despite advances in aquatic experimental approaches to temperature control, most studies rely on simplified warming

Aksjomat multiplikatywny Russela

open access: yesZagadnienia Filozoficzne w Nauce, 2012
We present the history of two parallel (and equivalent) discoveries: the axiom of choice and the multiplicative axiom. Firstly, we consider the origins of the formulation of the multiplicative axiom. Next, we concentrate on Russell’s attitude towards the

Characterization of the Shapley-Shubik Power Index Without the Efficiency Axiom [PDF]

open access: yes
We show that the Shapley-Shubik power index on the domain of simple (voting) games can be uniquely characterized without the e¢ ciency axiom. In our axiomatization, the efficiency is replaced by the following weaker require- ment that we term the gain ...

Attribute Implication Bases From Galois Connection Structures

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Modeling knowledge systems by determining relationships among key variables have been and currently is a fundamental and nontrivial challenge in real‐world scenarios. Many approaches have been developed to reach this goal, but many of them are heuristic and require of alternative procedures to provide robust and tractable rules.

Aksjomat wyboru w pracach Wacława Sierpińskiego

open access: yesZagadnienia Filozoficzne w Nauce, 2013
This paper presents Wacław Sierpiński – the first advocate of the axiom of choice. We focus on the philosophical and mathematical topics related to the axiom of choice which were considered by Sierpiński.

The Independence Axiom and the Bipolar Behaviorist [PDF]

open access: yes
Developments in the theory of risk require yet another evaluation of the behavioral validity of the independence axiom. This axiom plays a central role in most formal statements of expected utility theory, as well as popular alternative models of ...
