The Complexity of Mapping Customer Needs... (and the Myth of a Unanimous Customer)

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Axiomatic Design and Complexity Theory as described by Suh focus heavily on the coupling often found in functional requirements. This is so fundamental to the analysis of the design that it is the core of the Axiom of Independence which examines the ...

Equivariant toric geometry and Euler–Maclaurin formulae

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
Abstract We first investigate torus‐equivariant motivic characteristic classes of toric varieties, and then apply them via the equivariant Riemann–Roch formalism to prove very general Euler–Maclaurin‐type formulae for full‐dimensional simple lattice polytopes.

Axiomatic decomposition of a zero-sum game: the penalty shoot-out case

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
The game of soccer has offered matter of wide scientific analysis about the effective application of the game theory in real-life. The field observations have often detected divergent behaviors from theoretical predictions.

Abstract 3-Rigidity and Bivariate $C_2^1$-Splines I: Whiteley's Maximality Conjecture

open access: yesDiscrete Analysis, 2022
3-Rigidity and Bivariate $C_2^1$-Splines I: Whiteley's Maximality Conjecture, Discrete Analysis 2022:2, 50 pp. Suppose one realizes a graph $G$ by taking its vertex set to be a set of points $x_1,\dots,x_n$ in $\mathbb R^d$ and the edge joining $x_i$ to

On the Applicability of the Advocacy Coalition Framework for Analyzing EU Policy Processes

open access: yesEuropean Policy Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Initially developed for the US context, the Advocacy Coalition Framework (ACF) is increasingly used to analyze policy processes in the EU. But policymaking in EU differs from the US context, why the applicability of ACF in the EU context should be scrutinized.

Quantum probabilities from quantum entanglement: experimentally unpacking the Born rule

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2016
The Born rule, a foundational axiom used to deduce probabilities of events from wavefunctions, is indispensable in the everyday practice of quantum physics.

Theory of Peaceful End of Life: Analysis and Evaluation Using the Whall Framework

open access: yesThe International Journal of Health Planning and Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim This study aims to analyse and evaluate the theory of peaceful end of life to determine its relevance and applicability in nursing research, education and practice, particularly in the areas of palliative care and end‐of‐life care. Methods We conducted a theoretical‐reflexive study using specific criteria for analysing and evaluating ...

Moving beyond the belief–behavior correlation question: Decision contexts facilitate beliefs' effects on behavior

open access: yesJournal of Consumer Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Specific beliefs do not correlate with seemingly relevant behaviors for many reasons. Such correlations may be low even when beliefs perfectly cause behavior (e.g., because multiple beliefs compete for influence, because beliefs have various behavioral outlets). A belief may be a necessary precursor to, but not a guarantee of, a behavior.

Mechanistic trials, therapy and developmental science—An exemplar from early autism care

open access: yesJCPP Advances, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Mechanistic design and analysis in clinical trials remains relatively rare in child mental health and autism, despite the considerable value that it could have in developing therapy practice and in illuminating basic science. Clinical trials themselves continue to have insufficient influence on actual clinical practice in child ...
