On axiomatic definitions of non-discrete affine buildings [PDF]
In this paper we prove equivalence of sets of axioms for non-discrete affine buildings, by providing different types of metric, exchange and atlas conditions.

Convex ordering and quantification of quantumness
The characterization of physical systems requires a comprehensive understanding of quantum effects. One aspect is a proper quantification of the strength of such quantum phenomena.

On uniqueness theorems for Tsallis entropy and Tsallis relative entropy
The uniqueness theorem for Tsallis entropy was presented in {\it H.Suyari, IEEE Trans. Inform. Theory, Vol.50, pp.1783-1787 (2004)} by introducing the generalized Shannon-Khinchin's axiom.

Universal Property of Quantum Gravity implied by Uniqueness Theorem of Bekenstein-Hawking Entropy [PDF]
This paper consists of three steps. In the first, we prove that the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy is the unique expression of black hole entropy. Our proof is constructed in the framework of thermodynamics without any statistical discussion.

An axiomatic basis for quantum mechanics
In this paper we use the framework of generalized probabilistic theories to present two sets of basic assumptions, called axioms, for which we show that they lead to the Hilbert space formulation of quantum mechanics.

Evaluating Allocations of Opportunities
ABSTRACT This paper provides a robust criterion for comparing lists of probability distributions—interpreted as allocations of opportunities—faced by different social groups. We axiomatically argue in favor of comparing those lists of probability distributions on the basis of a uniform—among groups—valuation of their expected utility.

Precautionary Saving against Correlation under Risk and Ambiguitya
Abstract This paper considers precautionary saving against the correlation between two risky attributes (wealth and health) and investigates how the correlation affects optimal savings under multivariate preferences. The signs of higher‐order cross‐derivatives play a key role in determining the direction of precautionary saving against such correlation.

Diversification Preferences in the Theory of Choice
Diversification represents the idea of choosing variety over uniformity. Within the theory of choice, desirability of diversification is axiomatized as preference for a convex combination of choices that are equivalently ranked.

Taking Risks, With and Without Probabilities
ABSTRACT Some hold that expected utility is too restrictive in the way it handles risk. Risk‐weighted expected utility is an alternative that allows decision‐makers to have a range of attitudes toward probabilistic risk. It holds that any attitude within this range is instrumentally rational, since these attitudes represent different, equally good ...

Abstract Standard decision theory ranks risky prospects by their expected utility. This ranking does not change if the values of all possible outcomes are uniformly shifted or dilated. Similarly, if the values of the outcomes are negated, the ranking of prospects by their expected utility is reversed.
