We analysed genomic data from six closely related Coenonympha butterflies to explore their diversification history across Europe. Despite widespread secondary gene flow, the six species remain genetically distinct, even in areas where their distribution ranges overlap.

ABSTRACT Aims Island ecosystems represent a paramount opportunity to investigate interspecific interactions and ecological niche dynamics under constrained conditions. This study investigates how insularity and species coexistence influence the spatial distribution, ecological niche differentiation, and morphological adaptations of long‐eared bats ...

Ponderomotive effects of ultralight dark matter
I exhibit a new class of quadratic effects of ultralight dark matter. Axions, dark photons, and dilatons can exert rapidly oscillating forces, torques, and mass shifts on Standard Model particles.

The existence of Axion-Like Particles (ALPs) is predicted by many extensions the Standard Model of particle physics. Depending on their particular properties, these particles might contribute to several so far unresolved questions of physics, such as the nature of dark matter or the anomalous cooling processes observed in stellar systems.
