Bath Vibration During Open Eye Formation in a Physical Model of a Steelmaking Ladle

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Using a physical model, this study shows that vibration measurements reliably predict open eye size in steelmaking ladles, offering a practical alternative to visual monitoring. Vessel vibrations stabilize faster than the open eye, except at high frequencies near the bottom.

Agglomeration Behavior of Nonmetallic Particles on the Surface of Si‐Killed Liquid Steel Using HT‐CSLM: An In Situ Investigation

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
The in situ agglomeration behavior of semisolid Al–silicate inclusions in Si‐killed steel is studied using high‐temperature confocal scanning laser microscopy. Particle motion and interparticle forces at the steel/argon interface are quantified and compared with a modified capillary interaction model.

Transient, hypervelocity flow in an axisymmetric nozzle [PDF]

open access: yes29th Aerospace Sciences Meeting, 1991
The performance of an axisymmetric nozzle was examined which was designed to produce uniform, parallel flow with a nominal Mach number of 8. A free-piston driven shock tube was used to supply the nozzle with high-temperature, high-pressure test gas. Performance was assessed by measuring Pitot pressures across the exit plane of the nozzle and, over the ...

Recent advances in characterisation of subsonic axisymmetric nozzles [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
Nozzles are devices generating jets. They are widely used in fluidics and also in active control of flows past bodies. Being practically always a component of larger system, design and optimisation of the system needs characterisation of nozzle properties by an invariant quantity.

800 kV Fast Circuit Breaker: Mechanical Coupling Modelling, Buffer Design and Development

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The 800 kV fast circuit breaker (CB) used in ultra‐high voltage (UHV) converter transformer can reduce the total breaking time to 25 ms. It significantly improves the action speed and breaking capacity of the CB, with promising broad application prospects.

Flow Feature in Supersonic Non-Isobaric Jet near the Nozzle Edge

open access: yesAerospace, 2022
Using the example of studying the supersonic underexpanded jet initial section, the issue of interpreting the experimental visualization data and Pitot pressure measurement data using the results of numerical calculations (2d RANS k-ω SST) is discussed ...

Three-dimensional full Euler flows in axisymmetric nozzles

open access: yesJournal of Differential Equations, 2013
Abstract In this paper, we consider global subsonic compressible flows through general infinitely long nozzles. The flow is governed by the steady full Euler equations. We find a new invariant along streamline. Take advantages of this, we reformulate the full Euler system into quasilinear second order equations of stream function.

Design of HAWT Rotor for Non‐Uniform Inflow Conditions: A Theoretical and Experimental Approach for Shear Flow

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 4, Page 1935-1951, April 2026.
This paper aims to provide a robust design approach for HAWTs operating in shear flow. This study fills a critical research gap by integrating BEM and vortex theories for blade design in non‐homogeneous inflow conditions. The authors of the paper made an effort to develop and test an experimentally unsophisticated model of a turbine working in shear ...
