Forging Characteristics of AZ31 Mg Alloy

open access: yesMATERIALS TRANSACTIONS, 2001
Characteristics of open die forging in an AZ31 Mg alloy and a relation between microstructure and mechanical properties of the forged alloy have been investigated for an as-received specimen and an extruded specimen, where the as-received specimen consisted of both elongated coarse grains and equiaxed small grains, and the extruded specimen consisted ...

Investigation of the compressive deformation mechanisms in Mg-Gd-Y strengthened bimetallic composite rods

open access: yesJournal of Magnesium and Alloys
The bimetallic composite rods prepared by co-extrusion have good mechanical properties, but their compressive deformation behaviors have rarely been studied.

Predictive Multiphysics Modeling of Corrosion Behavior and Passive Layer Formation in Hydroxyapatite‐Coated Titanium Implants

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 5, May 2026.
A multiphysics finite element model predicts the long‐term corrosion behavior of hydroxyapatite–ionic liquid coatings on Ti‐6Al‐4V implants in simulated body fluid. Simulations reveal precipitation‐driven Ca–P passive layer growth that suppresses chloride transport, reduces corrosion current by over two orders of magnitude, and significantly enhances ...

Machine Learning Model for an App‐Based Tool to Assist With the Diagnosis of Canine Atopic Dermatitis

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 37, Issue 2, Page 236-246, April 2026.
Canine atopic dermatitis (cAD) is a chronic condition requiring life‐long management. Accurate diagnosis can be challenging, with no reliable diagnostic test. This study aimed to generate a simple diagnostic model for cAD. This model is a relevant prototype for an app‐based tool to support general practitioners in the diagnosis of cAD alongside ...

Skin‐Inspired Design of Self‐Healing Coatings Integrating Interface‐Liquid Repellency and Corrosion Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 18, 27 March 2026.
A skin‐inspired multilayered coating system is developed to integrate multiple, often conflicting, functions of self‐healing capability, strong liquid repellency, long‐term corrosion resistance, and robust adhesion, to tackle diverse challenges in engineering services.

Smart Functionalization of Ceramic-Coated AZ31 Magnesium Alloy

open access: yesACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2020
Providing materials with smart functionalities such as self-healing properties is primarily a domain for organic materials, although their applicability is restricted to mild environments and loads because of poor thermal and mechanical properties.

Dynamic Precipitation during High‐Pressure Torsion of a Magnesium–Manganese Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 4, 18 February 2026.
An ultrafine‐grained alloy is produced by high‐pressure torsion of solutionized Mg–1.35 wt% Mn. Precipitation of nanometer‐scale Mn particles during deformation provides pinning sites. This prevents the formation of a bimodal grain structure and results in a finer grain size than for pure Mg.

Effect of Applied Current Density of Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation Process on Corrosion Resistance of AZ31 Magnesium Alloy

open access: yes, 2019
Impact of applied current density during the plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) process on corrosion resistance of AZ31 magnesium alloy was studied. The PEO coatings were prepared using four different current densities with values of 0.025 A/cm2, 0.05 A/
