Nickel Foam Reinforced AZ91 Magnesium Alloy

Materials Science Forum, 2007
Nickel foam reinforced AZ91 magnesium alloy was fabricated by using melt infiltration and water quenching methods. The mechanical properties were measured in compressive and tensile deformation modes. Fracture surfaces were examined by scanning electronic microscopy.

Mechanical spectroscopy of commercial AZ91 magnesium alloy

Scripta Materialia, 2001
Abstract A damping peak at around 425 K for a frequency of about 1 Hz was found and it was correlated to the characteristic grain boundary peak of magnesium. An increase in the height of the grain boundary peak appears during the temperature cycles, controlled by the decrease of solute atoms in the matrix since the appearance of a precipitation ...

Thermal Fatigue of Magnesium Base Alloy AZ91*

Materials Testing, 2009
Abstract Thermal fatigue tests of the magnesium-base alloy AZ91 were carried out under total strain control and out-of-phase-Ioading conditions in a temperature range between 50°C and +190°C. Specimen produced by a vacuum die casting process were loaded under constant total strain and uniaxial homogeneous stress.

Fatigue of AZ91E-T6 Cast Magnesium Alloy

Journal of Engineering Materials and Technology, 1993
The purpose of this research was to obtain room temperature fatigue behavior of AZ91E-T6 cast magnesium alloy and to determine if commonly used models that depict fatigue behavior are applicable to this cast alloy. Axial strain-controlled fatigue behavior using cylindrical specimens were employed to determine low cycle fatigue behavior with strain ...

Investigation on the yield behavior of AZ91 magnesium alloy

Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2018
Abstract In this paper, quasi-static compression, tension, shear and combined compression-shear tests are conducted on cast AZ91 magnesium alloy in order to study its yield behavior. For the combined compression-shear tests, shear-compression specimens (SCS) are employed to generate the additional shear stresses, instead of complex loading device ...

Interface formation in carbon fibre reinforced magnesium alloys (AZ91)

Journal of Materials Science Letters, 1995
In metal matrix composites the adhesion between a ceramic fibre and the metal matrix should be submitted on the atomic scale to physical or chemical forces, without forming a reaction zone [1, 2]. Only in this case will fibres remain undamaged and a load transformation from the fibre to the matrix take place during composite application.

Cerium and Silane Conversion Coatings on AZ91 Magnesium Alloy

Advanced Materials Research, 2010
With different means of soaking treatment, simple cerium conversion coating, KH560 silane conversion coating, cerium silane conversion coating and silane cerium conversion coating are formulated. SEM, EDS, Tafel and EIS measurements were adopted as the analysis approaches, and organic resin is coated on the conversion coating surface for the salt spray

Creep behaviour of Deep Cryogenic Treated AZ91 Magnesium alloy

2012
The Deep Cryogenic Treatment (DCT) is known to havebeneficial effects on mechanical behavior/properties ofsome alloys. It was also reported to be beneficial for thecreep strength of Mg alloys. The present study is aimedat checking the effect of DCT on the high temperaturebehaviour of the Mg alloy AZ91 by means of comparativecreep tests at 100 and 200°C
