Field‐Free, Deterministic Giant Spin‐Orbit Torque Switching of 1.3 T Perpendicular Magnetization With Symmetry‐Lifted Topological Surface States

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We show a giant, bias‐field free, deterministic, spin‐orbit‐torque switching of perpendicular hard magnets with HC over 1.3 T. By combining the three‐fold 3m symmetry from topological insulator surface states with the rectangular mm2 symmetry from the 2 x 1 intercalation in Cr3Te4, the interface symmetry is significantly reduced into a unidirectional m

The Use of Azimuthal Variation in ScS–S Differential Travel Times to Investigate Possible Anisotropy in the Lowermost Mantle Beneath the Philippines

open access: yesGeosciences
We collected approximately 500 ScS–S differential travel times passing beneath the Philippines with various azimuths to discuss whether there were azimuthal variations in the ScS–S time residuals.

Precipitating Ordered Skyrmion Lattices from Helical Spaghetti

open access: yes, 2018
Magnetic skyrmions have been the focus of intense research due to their potential applications in ultra-high density data and logic technologies, as well as for the unique physics arising from their antisymmetric exchange term and topological protections.

Millisecond‐Switching Dual‐Band/Dual‐Polarization Ka‐Band Wavefront Control Enabled by a Complementary Liquid‐Crystal Metasurface

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
An LCD‐compatible complementary liquid‐crystal metasurface delivers dual‐band, dual‐polarized Ka‐band wavefront control with millisecond switching via a 10‐µm LC gap. Interlaced patch/slot pairs enable independent phase tuning at 28 and 38 GHz, while strategic 45° slot rotation suppresses parasitic resonances. Measurements on a 160 × 160‐cell prototype

Anisotropies of 40–139 keV Ions Measured beyond the Termination Shock and in the Very Local Interstellar Medium

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We analyze the count rates of 40–139 keV ions that were measured in situ by the Low Energy Charged Particle instrument on Voyager 1 in order to identify the suprathermal ion anisotropies beyond the termination shock and in the very local interstellar (IS)

Azimuthal Variation in the Surface Wave Velocity of the Philippine Sea Plate

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
A study of the azimuthal variation in the surface wave fundamental-mode phase velocity is performed for the Philippine Sea Plate (PSP). This azimuthal variation has been anisotropically inverted for the PSP to determine the isotropic and anisotropic ...

Azimuthal Anisotropy from STAR Experiment

open access: yes, 2013
We report the measurement of first (\textit{n} = 1) and higher order(\textit{n} = 2-5) harmonic coefficients ($v_{n}$) of the azimuthal anisotropy in the distribution of the particles produced in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ =200 GeV and U+U collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ =193 GeV, recorded with the STAR detector at RHIC.

Design and Fabrication of High Dielectric GRIN Lens for a Directive Antenna Using a Hybrid Filled Voxel Additive Manufacturing Technique

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Hybrid‐filled voxel AM enables integration of high‐permittivity materials into additively manufactured devices. Using this approach, a graded refractive index (GRIN) lens is demonstrated, achieving a 50% antenna size reduction with enhanced directivity.

Nonlinear transverse cascade and sustenance of MRI-turbulence in Keplerian disks with an azimuthal magnetic field

open access: yes, 2017
We investigate magnetohydrodynamic turbulence driven by the magnetorotational instability (MRI) in Keplerian disks with a nonzero net azimuthal magnetic field using shearing box simulations.
