Polarization plane's weak rotation amplifiers and polarization azimuth stabilizers
Optik, 2006A simple and effective method to measure an electromagnetic wave polarization plane's weak rotations in various media is proposed. The specific features of the polarization plane's rotation amplification for the light reflection and transmission through the absorbing and amplifying isotropic layers are calculated.

Polarization plane's weak rotation amplifiers and polarization azimuth stabiliziers
SPIE Proceedings, 2005A simple and effective method to measure an electromagnetic wave polarization plane's weak rotations in various media is proposed. The specific features of the polarization plane’s rotation amplification (PPRA) for the light reflection and transmission through the absorbing and amplifying anisotropic layers are calculated.

Radially and azimuthally polarized vortices in uniaxial crystals
Optics Communications, 2003The propagation of the radial and azimuthal components of a paraxial beam along the optical axis of a uniaxially anisotropic crystal is investigated, deriving the paraxial wave equations and solving the associated boundary value problem. As a particular case, we obtain the propagation equations of optical vortices and give an integral representation of

Production of radially and azimuthally polarized polychromatic beams
Optics Letters, 2006We describe a system that efficiently provides radially or azimuthally polarized radiation from a randomly polarized source. It is constructed from two conical reflectors and a cylindrical sheet of polarizing film. Envisaged applications include a microscope illuminator for high-resolution surface plasmon resonance microscopy, illumination for high ...

Azimuthally and radially polarized light in conical diffraction
Optics Letters, 2014Azimuthal and radial polarization states of light are used to produce conical diffraction (CD) from a KGd(WO4)2 crystal. The patterns produced in the ring plane in each case display marked differences than those seen when linearly polarized incident light is used, with the production of a splitting of the CD ring into two concentric rings of equal ...

Radially and azimuthally polarized non paraxial Bessel beams
2013 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Pacific Rim (CLEOPR), 2013We present a method for the realization of cylindrically polarized non-paraxial beams by constructing exact vector solutions of Maxwell's equations from scalar Bessel beams and combining them together by analogy with the paraxial case.

Abstract In the present paper, we investigate the polarization properties of the cholesteric liquid crystals (CLCs) with an isotropic/anisotropic defect inside them, and possibilities of amplification of the polarization plane rotation and stabilization of the light polarization azimuth by these systems are investigated.

Generation of azimuthally and radially polarized beams by coherent polarization beam combination
Optics Letters, 2012A new architecture for generating pure azimuthally and radially polarized beams is presented. It involves coherent polarization beam combination of two orthogonally polarized LP(11) fiber modes. Experimental results reveal that high purely polarized (polarization purity of 95% or better) azimuthal and radial beams can be generated.

Polarization azimuth angle in daylight scenes
Optical Engineering, 2005Lord Rayleigh derived the degree of polarization for singular molecular scattering phenomena in the atmosphere as a function of the relative angular orientations of the source, scattering center, and observer. This paper extends the Rayleigh model by giving the azimuth angle for the linearly polarized scattered radiation detected by the observer ...

Superbroadband full azimuth coverage polarization surveying array
IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium. 1995 Digest, 2002An array which can measure the polarization of the incoming wave is provided. This array can operate over a very wide bandwidth with full azimuth coverage. This is very useful in some applications, especially in the application of electronic countermeasures.
