Natural Pigments and Cyclodextrins: Overview on a Synergistic Approach to Encapsulation

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT The growing demand for natural dyes in the food industry has stimulated research into strategies aimed at improving their stability, solubility, and bioavailability. This review examines the synergistic use of cyclodextrins (CDs) as encapsulating agents for natural pigments, highlighting their ability to form inclusion complexes that protect ...

Dynamic Control of Nucleic Acids Self‐Assembly and Expression Using Photoswitches

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 32, Issue 31, 18 August 2026.
We review here the recent progress made in the design of molecular photoswitches, and highlight their implementation for the dynamic control over nucleic acids self‐assembly and expression. ABSTRACT Synthetic nucleic acids have become readily available and now constitute versatile building blocks in materials science—where they can be used to engineer ...

Exploring Disulfide Bridge as a Tool to Improve Pioglitazone’s Neuroprotective Potential: Toward the Development of Prolonged‐Acting MAO‐B/PPARγ Modulators

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 15, 14 August 2026.
Pioglitazone is an antidiabetic drug acting as a peroxisome proliferator‐activated receptor γ (PPARγ) agonist and later repositioned as a monoamine oxidase B (MAO‐B) inhibitor. Despite promising preclinical premises, it showed a lack of efficacy in clinical trials as a treatment for neurodegenerative diseases.

Design, synthesis and spectroscopic characterisation of novel azo dyes incorporating benzimidazole moiety

open access: yesDiscover Chemistry
This study describes the design, synthesis and characterisation of benzimidazole-derived azo dyes. Ten novel azo acid dyes were synthesized from benzimidazole derivatives using H-acid, Gamma acid, J-acid and Tobias acid as the coupling components.
