Azopolymers: a means of colon specific drug delivery?
International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 1994Improved drug delivery systems are required for drugs currently used to treat localised diseases of the lower intestinal tract such as ulcerative colitis and irritable bowel syndrome. Such diseases are most effectively treated by the local delivery of anti-inflammatory agents to the large intestine.
