Spatial and temporal variablity of nonmethane hydrocarbon mixing ratios and their relation to photochemical lifetime [PDF]
The relationship between temporal and spatial variability of C2-C8 nonmethane hydrocarbon mixing ratios and their HO lifetimes (τ) is presented for samples collected during the 1993 North Atlantic Regional Experiment (NARE) and from other urban and ...

The obligately lichenicolous genus Abrothallus consists of approximately 50 species, almost all of which are associated with lichens having foliose, fruticose, or pendulous thalli. This paper focuses on species that grow on strap lichens (Ramalina) providing new insights into their phylogenetic relationships and distribution.

Catalysts for change: Museum gardens in a planetary emergency
Natural history museums are often seen as places with indoor galleries full of dry‐dusty specimens, usually of animals. But if they have gardens associated with them, museums can use living plants to create narratives that link outside spaces to inside galleries, bringing to life the challenges facing biodiversity.

The impact of Arctic sea‐ice loss on winter weather in the British Isles
Arctic sea‐ice loss shifts the North Atlantic jet and storm track equatorward, and results in a more negative North Atlantic Oscillation and more positive East Atlantic and Scandinavian patterns. Strong extratropical cyclones weaken and become less frequent for the British Isles, but there is model disagreement for precipitation, surface winds, and ...

Deep-sea mining activities are expected to impact deep-sea biota through the generation of sediment plumes that disperse across vast areas of the ocean. Benthic sessile suspension-feeding fauna, such as cold-water corals, may be particularly susceptible ...

Influence of the Azores high on sea level pressure and wind, and on precipitation, in the Eastern Tropical Pacific Ocean [PDF]
ENGLISH: Intensification of the Azores high pressure cell in mid-year, with concomitant air flow from the Caribbean into the Pacific, is shown to be responsible for a secondary minimum of precipitation observed along the tropical Pacific coast of the ...

Evaluating seasonal forecast improvements over the past two decades
We have analysed the performance of operational seasonal forecasting models since their inception. Clear improvements are measured through the different model eras, particularly in the Tropics. For the extratropics, the strongest improvements are evident during the boreal winter season over the North Pacific/North America, linked to improvements in the
