On completeness in strong partial b-metric spaces, strong b-metric spaces and the 0-Cauchy completions

open access: yesTopology and its Applications, 2020
In this paper, the authors introduce the notion of strong partial \(b\)-metric space and establish a number of completion results over such structures. The following are the main results of this exposition. \textbf{Theorem 1.} Every strong partial \(b\)-metric space \((X,\alpha,\sigma)\) admits a \(0\)-Cauchy completion \((X^*,\alpha,\sigma ...

Revisiting graphical rectangular b-metric spaces

Asian-European Journal of Mathematics, 2021
Very recently, the notion of graphical rectangular [Formula: see text]-metric spaces has been introduced, where the weight of the symmetric edges endowing the directed graph is defined in terms of the underlying metric. Due to its intimate relationship with the directed graphs, such spaces have a wide range of applications in science and engineering ...

Principles for the Design of Online A/B Metrics

Proceedings of the 39th International ACM SIGIR conference on Research and Development in Information Retrieval, 2016
In this paper, we describe principles for designing metrics in the context of A/B experiments. We share some issues that comes up in designing such experiments and provide solutions to avoid such pitfalls.

b-Metric Spaces

2014
In 1993 another axiom for semimetric spaces, which is weaker than the triangle inequality, was put forth by Czerwik [58] with a view of generalizing the Banach contraction mapping theorem. This same relaxation of the triangle inequality is also discussed in Fagin et al. [79], who call this new distance measure nonlinear elastic matching (NEM).

Remarks on b-Metric and metric-preserving functions

Mathematica Slovaca, 2018
Abstract We introduce new classes of functions related to metric-preserving functions and b-metrics. We investigate their properties and compare them to those of metric-preserving functions.

A Note on Partial b-Metric Spaces

Mediterranean Journal of Mathematics, 2015
Let (X,b) be a partial b-metric space with coefficient $${s \geq 1. \,\,{\rm For \,\, each}\,\, x \in X \,\,{\rm and \,\,each}\,\, \varepsilon > 0, \,\,{\rm put}\,\, B(x, \varepsilon) = \{y \in X \colon b(x,y) 0\}}$$
