Spline Approximation, Part 2: From Polynomials in the Monomial Basis to B-splines—A Derivation

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
In a series of three articles, spline approximation is presented from a geodetic point of view. In part 1, an introduction to spline approximation of 2D curves was given and the basic methodology of spline approximation was demonstrated using splines ...

A Comparative Study of Different Schemes Based on Bézier-like Functions with an Application of Craniofacial Fractures Reconstruction

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
Cranial implants, especially custom made implants, are complex, important and necessary in craniofacial fracture restoration surgery. However, the classical procedure of the manual design of the implant is time consuming and complicated.

Introduction to Timelike Uniform B-splineCurves in Minkowski-3 Space

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Sciences and Modelling, 2018
The intention of this article is to study on timelike uniform B-spline curves in Minkowski-3 space. In our paper, we take the control points of uniform B-spline curves as a timelike point in Minkowski-3 space.

Cubic B-spline curve approximation by curve unclamping [PDF]

open access: yesComputer-Aided Design, 2010
A new approach for cubic B-spline curve approximation is presented. The method produces an approximation cubic B-spline curve tangent to a given curve at a set of selected positions, called tangent points, in a piecewise manner starting from a seed segment. A heuristic method is provided to select the tangent points.
