Influence of B4C Content on Flexural Performance of Ni + B4C Microwave Composite Clads
Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance, 2021This study focused on the development of microwave composite cladding of a Ni-based alloy reinforced with varying proportions (wt.%) of B4C such as 0, 5, 10 and 20% on a SS-304 steel substrate. Clads showed metallurgical bonding with the substrate by the partial dilution of the materials.

Influence of B4C on the tribological and mechanical properties of Al 7075–B4C composites
Composites Part B: Engineering, 2013Abstract In the present investigation, the influence of B 4 C on the mechanical and Tribological behavior of Al 7075 composites is identified. Al 7075 particle reinforced composites were produced through casting, K 2 TiF 6 added as the flux, to overcome the wetting problem between B 4 C and liquid aluminium metal. The aluminium B 4 C composites thus

Abstract Dependence of the combustion reaction behavior and product on the B 4 C particle size in the Al–Ti–B 4 C and Al–TiO 2 –B 4 C systems was investigated. The results show that in both systems, the SHS reaction kinetics is primarily controlled by diffusion.

A classical central force field model is applied to a boron carbide lattice assumed to consist of B11C icosahedra and C‐B‐C chains. The icosahedral carbon is positioned in a polar triangle and is puckered inward by ∼10%. Interaction constants are fitted to account for the observed Raman and IR spectral frequencies in terms of q=0 phonons; isotopic ...

A self‐consistent‐field, near‐Hartree‐Fock method is applied to study the structure and stability of B4C. Hydrogens serve as bond tie‐offs. Consideration of a large variety of B12C2H16 cluster configurations reveals that one C is highly favored over 0, 2, or 3 in the icosahedron. The C‐B‐C chain is highly favored over all other chains. C’s as far apart

Preparation, microstructure and mechanical properties of SiC–SiC and B4C–B4C laminates
Journal of Solid State Chemistry, 2004Silicon carbide and boron carbide are high hardness materials with a low density but, like most ceramics, with a low toughness, that limits their use in various applications. One approach to reinforce ceramic materials consists in using crack deflection by weakening the interfaces in laminar materials.

Influence of B4C particle size on microstructure and damping capacities of (B4C+Ti)/Mg composites
Journal of Central South University, 2021To study the influence of B4C particle size on the microstructure and damping capacities of (B4C+Ti)/Mg composites, in situ reactive infiltration technique was utilized to prepare Mg-matrix composites. The microstructure, produced phases and damping capacities of the composites prepared with different particle size of B4C were characterized and ...
