ABSTRACT In the present study, we have analyzed the growth profile of ruthenium (Ru) thin films, deposited using pulsed direct current (DC) magnetron sputtering technique, by varying the sputtering voltages in the range of 150–420 V. The grazing incidence X‐ray reflectivity (GIXRR), time‐of‐flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF‐SIMS), and atomic ...

Pulsed DC Sputter Deposition of Stable Turbostratic Boron Nitride Thin Films
Boron nitride (BN) films are deposited by sputtering from a boron target. During deposition, a substrate bias voltage is applied between the plasma and the sample, which reduces excess boron in the film and enhances the crystallinity. This process prevents the formation of boric acid and ammonium borate hydrate.

Development of Laterally Graded X‐Ray Multilayer Optics
This work presents the development of laterally graded X‐ray multilayer optics with both constant and variable lateral gradients. By precisely controlling substrate speed profiles and mask design, these multilayers achieve highly accurate lateral gradients and excellent sagittal thickness uniformity, making them ideal for spectroscopy application at ...

Sintering aids for manufacture of hot-pressed TiB2-B4C composite ceramics [PDF]
To search the effective sintering aids for (TiB2)0.6(B4C)0.4 composite ceramics, the ceramic compacts were hot-pressed at 1950℃ (some 1750, 1650℃) for 1 hour under 28.2 MPa with 6 mol% each of SiC, AlN, Si3N4, TiN and Y2O3 sintering aids.

Effect of Microstructure on Mechanical Properties and Erosive Wear of B4C and B4C-CrB2 Composites.
Monolithic B4C and B4C-20 mol% CrB2 composite ceramics were fabricated by hot pressing at 1900 and 2050°C. Erosive wear by Al2O3 particle impingement was tested using a sandblaster. The microstructure, mechanical properties and erosive wear of the ceramic specimens were examined and compared with those of a commercial B4C ceramic.
