Deformation induced anisotropy and memorized back stress in constitutive model
International Journal of Plasticity, 1998Abstract Plastic-deformation induced anisotropy and memorization of back stress due to pre-loading affect the current loading. These phenomena are examined with tension and/or torsion tests, using SUS 304. Considering both anisotropy, and movement and memorization of back stress, equi-plastic surfaces are predicted.

Back stress and Jaumann rates in finite plasticity
International Journal of Plasticity, 1990Abstract It has been shown that the indiscriminate use of the Jaumann rate in constitutive equations for plastic materials gives rise to an oscillatory stress response in the presence of monotonically i increasing strain. In this paper we discuss the use of the Jaumann rate in constitutive models with a back stress.

Back-stresses, image stresses, and work-hardening
Acta Metallurgica, 1973Abstract A comparison is made between recently published theories on the plastic behaviour of dispersion-hardened alloys in which no plastic relaxation occurs. It is shown that Tanaka and Mori's(1) calculation is a rigorous lower bound for the hardening to be expected. Some new derivations are given for the mean strains in matrix and inclusions.

Low-back stresses when learning to use a materials handling device
