Do Naked Singularities Form? [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
A naked singularity is formed by the collapse of a Sine-Gordon soliton in 1+1 dimensional dilaton gravity with a negative cosmological constant. We examine the quantum stress tensor resulting from the formation of the singularity.

Psychological Safety Among Interprofessional Pediatric Oncology Teams in Germany: A Nationwide Survey

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Psychological safety (PS) is essential for teamwork, communication, and patient safety in complex healthcare environments. In pediatric oncology, interprofessional collaboration occurs under high emotional and organizational demands. Low PS may increase stress, burnout, and adverse events.

Contributions and role of B2 nanoparticles in the exceptional strength/ductility trade-offs of Al0.3CoCrFeMnNi high entropy alloy

open access: yesMaterials Research Letters
This study explores the role of B2 nanoprecipitates in enhancing strength/ductility trade-offs in the Al0.3CoCrFeMnNi high-entropy alloy (HEA). A tailored thermomechanical treatment selectively introduced high-density intragranular B2 nanoprecipitates ...

Characterizing Parental Concerns About Lasting Impacts of Treatment in Children With B‐Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background B‐acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B‐ALL) is the most common pediatric cancer, and while most children in high‐resource settings are cured, therapy carries risks for long‐term toxicities. Understanding parents’ concerns about these late effects is essential to guide anticipatory support and inform evolving therapeutic approaches ...

A Stress Memory Effect in Olivine at Upper Mantle Pressures and Temperatures

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
Cyclic deformation experiments on olivine aggregates have been conducted at pressures of 1.9–2.8 GPa and temperatures of 297–1250 K. Measurements of mechanical data combined with acoustic emission (AE) monitoring revealed that activity of AE increased ...

Stress ulcer prophylaxis: Back to square one

open access: yesSaudi Critical Care Journal, 2017
Pharmacologic prophylaxis against stress ulcer-related gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding with acid suppression has been the standard of care for decades. Worldwide, proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are more commonly used than histamine-2-receptor antagonists.

Experimental study of surface cracks [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
Analysis of plastic zones surrounding surface cracks in stressed steel and titanium plates subjected to tensile loading shows that back surface dimpling develops at stress levels considerably lower than those predicted by theoretical models of yield zone

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)
