Foreground Object Detection Based on Multi-model Background Maintenance

Ninth IEEE International Symposium on Multimedia Workshops (ISMW 2007), 2007
This paper addresses the problem of background maintenance for foreground object detection. A Multi- model Background Maintenance (MBM) framework that contains two principal features is proposed. Under this framework, a pure time-varying background image is maintained and learned using the statistical information of the multi-model Gaussian ...

Podoplanin is dispensable for mineralized tissue formation and maintenance in the Swiss outbred mouse background

genesis, 2021
SummaryPodoplanin, PDPN, is a mucin‐type transmembrane glycoprotein widely expressed in many tissues, including lung, kidney, lymph nodes, and mineralized tissues. Its function is critical for lymphatic formation, differentiation of type I alveolar epithelial lung cells, and for bone response to biomechanical loading.

A Background on Utilities and Maintenance Management

2012
The expression “public utility” or “utility”, first used in 1903, is defined by Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate® Dictionary, Eleventh Edition (http://www.merriam-webster.com), as “a business organization performing a public service and subject to special governmental regulation”. In the same manner, the Encyclopaedia Britannica (http://www.britannica.com)

A fast background scene modeling and maintenance for outdoor surveillance

Proceedings 15th International Conference on Pattern Recognition. ICPR-2000, 2002
We describe fast background scene modeling and maintenance techniques for real time visual surveillance system for tracking people in an outdoor environment. It operates on monocular gray scale video imagery or on video imagery from an infrared camera.

Face Recognition in Complex Background: Developmental Network and Synapse Maintenance

International Journal of Smart Home, 2015
As an important sub-field in computer vision and pattern recognition, face recognition has important theoretical and practical application. It is a very complicated problem which is often affected by variations in illumination condition, head pose, facial emotions, glasses, beards, and so on.

Maintenance proficiency assessment: background and overview

Conference Record for 1992 Fifth Conference on Human Factors and Power Plants, 1992
Valid assessment of the skills and knowledge of individual maintenance personnel is critical for the efficient and safe performance of maintenance tasks in nuclear power plants. A brief overview of an Electrical Power Research Institute (EPRI) research project to develop, evaluate and effect technology transfer of a methodology to assess maintenance ...

Language maintenance and identity among Sudanese-Australian refugee-background youth

Journal of Multilingual and Multicultural Development, 2009
This paper reports the results of a sociolinguistic survey-based study of the Sudanese community in a regional settlement in Australia. The context of this study represents a distinctive language contact setting with a unique combination of social, cultural and demographic factors. The study aimed to explore attitudes, perceptions and the actual use of

Racial background is a determinant factor in the maintenance dosage of Warfarin

International Journal of Hematology, 2003
Warfarin is a drug commonly used in the prevention of thromboembolic events. There have been reports suggesting that racial background may influence warfarin dose requirements. Malaysia is a multiracial country in which there are 3 major races, Malay, Chinese, and Indian.

A Background Maintenance Model in the Spatial-Range Domain

2004
In this article a background maintenance model defined by a finite set of codebook vectors in the spatial-range domain is proposed. The model represents its current state by a foreground and a background set of codebook vectors. Algorithms that dynamically update these sets by adding and removing codebook vectors are described.

Robust background maintenance by estimating global intensity level changes for dynamic scenes

Intelligent Service Robotics, 2009
The maintenance of relevant backgrounds under various scene changes is very crucial to detect foregrounds robustly. We propose a background maintenance method for dynamic scenes including global intensity level changes caused by changes of illumination conditions and camera settings.
