MIMO based wireless backhaul

International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems, 2010
Wireless backhaul has been received much attention as an enabler of future broadband mobile communication systems because it can reduce deployment cost of pico-cells, an essential part of high capacity system. A high performance network in terms of high throughput, low average delay and low packet loss rate, is highly appreciated to sustain the ...

HSUPA backhaul bandwidth dimensioning

2008 IEEE 19th International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 2008
HSUPA (High Speed Uplink Packet Access) is introduced by the 3GPP Release 6 to enhance the UMTS uplink with higher data rates, reduced latency and increased capacity. This paper discusses the dimensioning of the backhaul resources on the ATM-based Iub interface in UMTS HSUPA networks.

Fair WLAN backhaul aggregation

Proceedings of the sixteenth annual international conference on Mobile computing and networking, 2010
Aggregating multiple 802.11 Access Point (AP) backhauls using a single-radio WLAN card has been considered as a way of bypassing the backhaul capacity limit. However, current AP aggregation solutions greedily maximize the individual station throughput without taking fairness into account.

Backhaul-aware scheduling for WiMAX femtocell with limited backhaul capacity

TENCON 2011 - 2011 IEEE Region 10 Conference, 2011
A femtocell is designed to use a shared broadband IP link. A bottleneck may be occurred due to the limitation of provisioned bandwidth and the existence of background traffic especially in access network. The bottleneck will certainly affect the service performance of the femtocell access point (FAP), which would influence end user experience. In order

Backhauling solutions for LTE networks

2014 16th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2014
LTE and LTE advanced mobile technologies impose quite new requirements to backhauling network and may call for revolutionary approaches, like fronthauling, in order to exploit the full potential of the technology. In this paper we synthesize main requirements for LTE and LTE advanced backhauling and fronthauling, along with the underlining rationale ...

Exploiting PONs for mobile backhaul

IEEE Communications Magazine, 2013
The growing popularity of mobile data services necessitates a rapid rise in network capacity not only on the air interface to the end user, but also in the backhaul network. The latter is quite important for the mobile operator business model, affecting capital investment, operational expenses, service deployment, and customer experience.

Carrier ethernet for mobile backhaul

IEEE Communications Magazine, 2010
The wide adoption of mobile broadband services by users of smartphones and other mobile terminals is being enabled by radio access technologies with better performance than many fixed residential broadband lines. Mobile network operators are upgrading their networks to deliver growing packet traffic cost effectively, while maintaining critical ...

A genetic algorithm for vehicle routing with backhauling

Applied Intelligence, 1996
In this paper, a greedy route construction heuristic for a vehicle routing problem with backhauling is described. This heuristic inserts customers one by one into the routes using a fixed a priori ordering of customers. Then, a genetic algorithm is used to identify an ordering that produces good routes.

Lightening Backhaul Load for Aerial Multi-Hop Integrated Access and Backhaul Networks

IEEE Wireless Communications Letters
We explore aerial multi-hop integrated access and backhaul (IAB) networks, considering the backhaul link load and interference. We propose the lightening backhaul load (LBL) scheme to improve the performance of networks. Specifically, by using the proposed scheme, unnecessary large hop transmission is avoided, which reduces the load at backhaul links ...
