Monitoring Rice Phenology Based on Backscattering Characteristics of Multi-Temporal RADARSAT-2 Datasets

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
Accurate estimation and monitoring of rice phenology is necessary for the management and yield prediction of rice. The radar backscattering coefficient, one of the most direct and accessible parameters has been proved to be capable of retrieving rice ...

Coupled modelling of land surface microwave interactions using ENVISAT ASAR data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
In the last decades microwave remote sensing has proven its capability to provide valuable information about the land surface. New sensor generations as e.g. ENVISAT ASAR are capable to provide frequent imagery with an high information content.

Composition‐Tuned Enhancement of the Anomalous Nernst Effect in FeCo–Pt Thin Films on Rigid and Flexible Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Disordered (Fe50Co50)1−xPtx thin films exhibit a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) with a strong composition dependence on both rigid and flexible substrates. The transverse thermoelectric response peaks near 22.5 at.% Pt, accompanied by enhanced αxy/σxy scaling, thermal transport, and ANE sensitivity.

Features of X-Band Radar Backscattering Simulation Based on the Ocean Environmental Parameters in China Offshore Seas

open access: yesSensors, 2018
The X-band marine radar has been employed as a remote sensing tool for sea state monitoring. However, there are few literatures about sea spectra considering both the wave parameters and short wind-wave spectra in China Offshore Seas, which are of ...

Effects of acoustic nonlinearities on the ultrasonic backscatter coefficient estimation [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2019
The backscatter coefficient (BSC) is a fundamental property of tissues and can be used to classify tissues. Two BSC calibration methods are the planar reflector method and the reference phantom method. In both methods, linear acoustic propagation is assumed.

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Creating Ti–Fe α/β Alloys by Diffusion‐Driven Solid‐State Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study proposes making alloys containing fast diffusing elements that are difficult to produce by ingot metallurgy, by diffusion‐driven solid‐state HIP processing of elemental powders and low‐temperature homogenisation. Here, novel Fe‐Ti α–β alloys are formed having fine α–β lamellae, a small β prior grain size without significant intermetallics ...
