Objective determination of backward masking
Backward Masking (BM) functions have been shown to relate to age, lead toxicity, and are differentiated in children with language disorders. These functions may be indicative of auditory processing deficits. This study investigated if Evoked Potentials (EP) could be utilized to obtain BM functions.

Controlled laser‐drilling of embedded HfO2 membranes creates three layer nanopores with Gaussian‐shaped cavities sculptured in the supporting layers. These embedded solid‐state nanopores slow DNA translocation by 12‐fold compared to SiNx pores, enabling high‐resolution, label‐free detection of short DNAs, RNAs, and proteins.

An ultraviolet image enhancement algorithm in Curvelet domain based on human visual characteristics
Aiming at the characteristics such as low contrast, unclear imaging,over-dark or over-bright overall imaging and noise interference in ultraviolet image itself,a Curvelet domain ultraviolet image enhancement algorithm was proposed based on the masking ...

Resonant Neural Dynamics of Speech Perception [PDF]
What is the neural representation of a speech code as it evolves in time? How do listeners integrate temporally distributed phonemic information across hundreds of milliseconds, even backwards in time, into coherent representations of syllables and words?

Spectrally Tunable 2D Material‐Based Infrared Photodetectors for Intelligent Optoelectronics
Intelligent optoelectronics through spectral engineering of 2D material‐based infrared photodetectors. Abstract The evolution of intelligent optoelectronic systems is driven by artificial intelligence (AI). However, their practical realization hinges on the ability to dynamically capture and process optical signals across a broad infrared (IR) spectrum.

Photo‐Switching Thermal and Lithium‐Ion Conductivity in Azobenzene Polymers
Light‐responsive azobenzene polymers control thermal and ionic transport simultaneously through structural transitions. UV illumination disrupts π–π stacking, converting crystalline trans states to amorphous cis configurations. Thermal conductivity drops from 0.45 to 0.15 W·m−1·K−1 while Li+ diffusivity increases 100 fold. This dual transport switching

Interpretation of absolute judgments using information theory: channel capacity or memory capacity? [PDF]
Shannon’s information theory has been a popular component of first-order cybernetics. It quantifies information transmitted in terms of the number of times a sent symbol is received as itself, or as another possible symbol.

Alkali Ion‐Incorporated HfO2 Dielectrics for Reconfigurable Neuromorphic Computing
This work presents an indium gallium zinc oxide (IGZO) transistor with an alkali cation‐integrated hafnium dioxide (HfO2) dielectric exhibiting synaptic behavior via ion retention. The solution‐based film fabrication strategy overcomes the limitations of atomic layer deposition (ALD) and precursor coating, enabling the control of synaptic retention ...
