Is Acceptable Noise Level Affected by the Number of Competitive Talkers? An Implication of Informational Masking and Listening in Dips for Acceptable Noise Level Mechanism

open access: yesAuditory and Vestibular Research
Background and Aim: The Acceptable Noise Level (ANL), which is an effective clinical tool for quantitative assessment of noise tolerance, is affected by some known variables related to both subject and testing materials.

Complex Cryptographic and User‐Centric Physically Unclonable Functions Enabled by Strain‐Sensitive Nanocrystals via Selective Ligand Exchange

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates electromechanical PUFs that improve on traditional electric PUFs. The electron transport materials are coated randomly through selective ligand exchange. It produces multiple keys and a key with motion dependent on percolation and strain, and approaches almost ideal inter‐ and intra‐hamming distances.

Four Common Conceptual Fallacies in Mapping the Time Course of Recognition

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2011
Determining the moment at which a visual recognition process is completed, or the order in which various processes come into play, are fundamental steps in any attempt to understand human recognition abilities, or to replicate the corresponding hierarchy

Using In Situ TEM to Understand the Surfaces of Electrocatalysts at Reaction Conditions: Single‐Atoms to Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes recent advances in closed‐cell in situ TEM strategies for accurate determination of the activity and stability of single‐atom catalyst systems during operation. Operando conditions causing dynamic changes of SAC systems are highlighted and we explain why ensemble average‐based optical techniques may benefit from the technological

Electrically Tunable On‐Chip Topological Photonics with Integrated Carbon Nanotubes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates electrically tunable on‐chip topological THz devices by integrating 2D carbon nanotube (CNT) sheets with valley‐Hall photonic crystals, enabling broadband transmission modulation (71% modulation depth) and tunable narrowband filtering (0.54 GHz shift) through electrically induced thermal tuning. This advancement paves the way for
