This study examines how different laser‐patterned copper and brass surfaces, including copper coatings, affect the survival of vancomycin‐resistant Enterococcus faecium. Using microscopy and genome analysis, the results show that copper tolerance varies between strains and can increase after vancomycin exposure.

This work explores the antimicrobial action of AZO‐Ag and TiO2‐Ag nanocoatings on plastic, demonstrating good efficacy against highly‐critical antibiotic‐resistant bacteria, yeast, and virus. A multi‐assay approach is here exploited to inspect the contribution of direct and indirect antimicrobial mechanisms, and potential human toxicity is also ...

Preparing Bacterial Genomic DNA
Cold Spring Harbor Protocols, 2022We describe two alternative procedures for purifying bacterial chromosomal DNA. The first procedure incorporates the use of a commercial kit based on silica membrane technology. This approach relies on the selective binding of DNA to a silica-based column in the presence of chaotropic salts (guanidine salts).

Preparation of Bacterial Plasmid DNA
Current Protocols in Neuroscience, 1998AbstractThe protocols in this unit describe methods for preparing bacterial plasmid DNA free from chromosomal DNA. The first is an alkaline lysis miniprep suitable for screening a moderate number of bacterial colonies by restriction endonuclease cleavage and agarose gel electrophoresis.

DNA transfer in bacterial conjugation
Journal of Molecular Biology, 1966Chromosome transfer from Hfr to F − cells was analyzed by labeling the DNA of the Hfr cells with [ 3 H]thymine prior to mating, and/or by labeling any DNA made during mating. The F − cells were either starved of adenine or heavily irradiated with ultraviolet light, with the aim of preventing them from synthesizing DNA.
