Proteome Analysis of Corynebacterium diphtheriae–Macrophage Interaction

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, Volume 26, Issue 8, Page 9-28, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Contact of Corynebacterium diphtheriae with macrophages induces adaptations on both bacterial and cellular sides. The study presented here was aiming to shed light on the simultaneous intracellular adaptation of the bacteria and changes in the proteome of the phagocytes in response to the internalization of C. diphtheriae.

Antimicrobial Resistance of Serratia marcescens Recovered From Aquatic Environments: A Review

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 4, August 2026.
Serratia marcescens is a gram‐negative bacillus forming biofilms and showing multidrug resistance. Review (2019–2024) included 13 studies, 90 aquatic isolates. High resistance to β‐lactams, including carbapenems. Genes: blaOXA‐48, blaTEM‐1, aac(6′)‐Ic. Aquatic environments are reservoirs, requiring monitoring and control to prevent spread.

Enterococcus faecalis and Endodontic Treatment Failure: A Qualitative Systematic Review of Its Role and Elimination Strategies

open access: yesAustralian Endodontic Journal, Volume 52, Issue 2, Page 585-605, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to synthesize evidence on the influence of Enterococcus faecalis on endodontic treatment failure and strategies for its elimination. This study followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‐Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines and was registered in PROSPERO (CRD420251022741).

The Relationship Between Severity of Apical Periodontitis and Next‐Generation Systemic Inflammatory Biomarkers

open access: yesAustralian Endodontic Journal, Volume 52, Issue 2, Page 518-525, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Apical periodontitis (AP) is an endodontic infection that may persist asymptomatically and be reflected in systemic inflammatory status. This study aimed to evaluate the association between radiographic severity of AP and next‐generation systemic inflammatory biomarkers in systemically healthy adults.
