Fluconazole Increases Bactericidal Activity of Neutrophils
The Journal of Trauma: Injury, Infection, and Critical Care, 1996Candida infections after injury are associated with significant mortality. Death often results from gram negative sepsis. Because antifungal therapy lowers mortality seen with Candida infections, this study was undertaken to determine whether fluconazole (FCZ) augments host response against bacteria, specifically, the bactericidal activity of ...

Bactericidal activity of disinfectants on listeria
Journal of Applied Bacteriology, 1993A. VAN DE WEYER, M.‐J. DEVLEESCHOUWER AND J. DONY. 1993. The bactericidal activity on Listeria spp. of nine disinfectants used in the food industry was studied by previously published methods. The disinfectants were diluted to the test concentation in sterile standard hard water.

Bactericidal Activity of Amikacin and Gentamicin
Chemotherapy, 1977Using the membrane filtration method bactericidal activity of amikacin and gentamicin as a function of time and concentrations was determined. Amikacin was bactericidal against all Pseudomonas aeruginosa (n = 7) and Klebsiella pneumoniae strains (n = 8) tested. In 5 of the 7 P. aeruginosa and 3 of the 8 K. pneumoniae strains we saw a secondary regrowth

Bactericidal Activity of Catecholamine Copper Complexes
Free Radical Research Communications, 1991Washed or growing E. coli cells are killed by epinephrine, norepinephrine or dopamine in the presence of non lethal concentrations of Cu(II). Killing is enhanced by anoxia and by sublethal concentrations of H2O2. The rate of killing is proportional to the rate of catecholamine oxidation. The copper epinephrine complex binds to E.

Bactericidal Activity of Partially Oxidized Nanodiamonds
ACS Nano, 2014Nanodiamonds are a class of carbon-based nanoparticles that are rapidly gaining attention, particularly for biomedical applications, i.e., as drug carriers, for bioimaging, or as implant coatings. Nanodiamonds have generally been considered biocompatible with a broad variety of eukaryotic cells.

Early bactericidal activity of antituberculosis agents
Expert Review of Anti-infective Therapy, 2003The early bactericidal activity (EBA) of an antituberculosis agent is arbitrarily defined as the fall in log(10) colony forming units (cfu) of Mycobacterium tuberculosis per ml sputum per day during the first 2 days of treatment. Determining the EBA is an important preliminary step in the clinical evaluation of an antituberculosis agent.

[Bactericidal activity of imipenem].
Presse medicale (Paris, France : 1983), 1990The bactericidal activity of imipenem against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacteriaceae and Staphylococcus aureus was compared with that of other antibiotics, using the time-related kill rate curve method. The activity of imipenem was found to be less rapid and less intense than that of aminoglycosides, similar to that of fluoroquinolones and more ...

[Bactericidal activity of octophene].
Giornale di batteriologia, virologia ed immunologia, 1986In this study the bactericidal activity of Clofoctol has been evaluated by "in vitro" technique against gram-positive against gram-positive microorganisms clinically isolated. The results show that MIC of Clofoctol is very close to its bactericidal activity, which could therefore be retained as its main activity.

Bactericidal activity of cefadroxil
1983Cefadroxil is a semisynthetic cephalosporin with a broad spectrum of activity. It is chemically stable, acid resistant, and well absorbed after oral administration. The bactericidal activity of cefadroxil as compared with that of cephalexin was determined against the following bacterial species: E.

Bactericidal activity of cefazedone.
Arzneimittel-Forschung, 1979Distinct bactericidal activity of (6R,7R)-7-(2-[3,5-dichloro-4-oxo-1(4H)-pyridyl]-acetamido)-3-([(5-methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)-thio]methyl)-8-oxo-5-thia-1-aza-bicyclo[4,2,0]oct-2-ene-2-carboxylic acid (cefazedone, Refosporen) could be demonstrated in 2 Staphylococcus aureus and 3 Escherichia coli strains.
