A technique for bacteriological sampling of hair. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Pathology, 1973
Bacteriological sampling of hair has been previously carried out by applying culture plates directly to the hair but the resulting heavy growth of mixed organisms could make rapid identification of individual colonies difficult and the use of selective media with this technique prevents a comparison of relative numbers of different organisms.

Standardized bacteriologic techniques for the characterization of Mycoplasma species [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic Bacteriology, 1970
ABSTRACT Bacteriological methods applicable to the characterization and differentiation of Mycoplasma species were investigated. After appropriate modification and standardization, these methods were tested on 53 Mycoplasma strains comprising more than 22 species.

EFFECTS OF ENZYMES IN SERUM ON CARBOHYDRATES AND THEIR RELATION TO BACTERIOLOGICAL TECHNIQUE [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 1920
It has been shown that enzymes in serum will change maltose, dextrin, and starch so that they will react as dextrose in media. These enzymes are destroyed by heating to 60°C. for 15 minutes, but they are present in sera that have been refrigerated for as long as 18 months.

Anaerobic Methods, Techniques and Principles for Food Bacteriology: A Review

open access: yesJournal of Food Protection, 1983
Anaerobic systems for cultivation of bacteria have been studied extensively in clinical and environmental microbiology. Such studies have not received much attention in food microbiology, except perhaps in the canning industry. This review summarizes the developments of anaerobic methodology from early stages to the modern era.

Some Effects of the Proposed New Bacteriological Techniques

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 1936
Summary In Table 6 is shown the fact that in this work a considerable number of the samples tested were sufficiently higher in count with tryptone agar to bring them into the class of illegal milk in Massachusetts. The same also applies to 32° C. incubation.
