Olfaction plays indispensable roles in insect behavior such as host location, foraging, oviposition, and avoiding predators. Chemosensory proteins (CSPs) can discriminate the hydrophobic odorants and transfer them to the odorant receptors.

Oriental fruit fly, Bactrocera dorsalis (Hendel)
2023Bactrocera dorsalis, also known as the Oriental fruit fly, is a highly polyphagous invasive pest originating from tropical south east Asia. It has invaded over 50 countries, causing significant economic damage to a wide range of fruit and vegetable crops through oviposition and larval development.

Formation characteristics of long‐term memory in Bactrocera dorsalis
Insect Science, 2022AbstractStudies on insects have contributed significantly to a better understanding of learning and memory, which is a necessary cognitive capability for all animals. Although the formation of memory has been studied in some model insects, more evidence is required to clarify the characteristics of memory formation, especially long‐term memory (LTM ...

The biogenic amine octopamine (OA, invertebrate counterpart of noradrenaline) plays critical roles in the regulation of olfactory behavior. Historically, OA has been thought to mediate appetitive but not aversive learning in honeybees, fruit flies ...

BdTTLL3B-mediated polyglycylation is involved in the spermatogenesis in Bactrocera dorsalis
International Journal of Biological MacromoleculesPolyglycylation is a post-translational modification that generates glycine side chains in the C-terminal domains of both α- and β-tubulins. To date, the patterns and significance of polyglycylation across insect species remain largely unknown. The TTLL3B was thought to be a polyglycylase and be essential for polyglycylation in dipteran insects.
