Multiscale Microscopy via Automation: Dual Magnification Environmental Scanning Electron Microscopy Imaging by Frame Alternation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
An automation interface for environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) enables simultaneous, interlaced data sets via frame‐by‐frame parameter changes. Demonstrated on oscillatory hydrogen oxidation over cobalt (Co) foil, dual‐magnification imaging bridges mesoscopic to microscopic length scales, capturing alternating views of surface dynamics ...

Microbial Odorant Detection Guides Drosophila Parasitoids Seeking Hosts in Fermenting Fruits

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Yeast microbes in fermenting fruits attract both host flies and their parasitoid wasps. Female Leptopilina boulardi detect yeast‐emitted ethyl esters via two olfactory receptors, LbouOR167 and LbouOR136. A conserved residue, Leu159, is critical for binding these compounds, enabling female wasps to locate host‐rich habitats.

Determination of residual alkyl iodides and alkyl bromides as their corresponding alkyl chlorides in drug substances by headspace GC-FID

open access: yesHeliyon
Primary and secondary alkyl iodides and primary alkyl bromides were quickly and conveniently converted into their corresponding alkyl chlorides via SN2 halide-halide substitution.

Complex Iridium Oxides Converge In Structure And Reactivity During Acidic Oxygen Evolution Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Ir‐based double perovskites restructure during acidic oxygen evolution electrocatalysis through dissolution of non‐Ir cations and convergence toward IrOx active‐site motifs with similar structure and intrinsic activity across compositions. The identity of the dissolving cations controls dissolution and surface reconstruction kinetics, clarifying how ...

Investigating the Role of the Eurasian Badger (Meles meles) in the Nationwide Distribution of the Western European Hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus) in England

open access: yesAnimals, 2019
Simple Summary The hedgehog is a species known to many in society. What is perhaps less known, is that the hedgehog has been declining across large parts of Europe, including the United Kingdom.

Quantifying the relative predation pressure on bumblebee nests by the European badger (Meles meles) using artificial nests

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2020
Bumblebee populations are declining. Factors that impact the size and success of colonies act by either limiting resource availability (bottom‐up regulation) or causing mortality, for example, pesticides, disease, and possibly predation (top‐down ...

OntoLogX: Ontology‐Guided Knowledge Graph Extraction From Cybersecurity Logs With Large Language Models

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
OntoLogX is an autonomous AI agent that uses large language models to transform unstructured cyber security logs into ontology grounded knowledge graphs. By integrating retrieval augmented generation, iterative correction, and a light‐weight log ontology, OntoLogX produces semantically consistent intelligence that links raw log events to MITRE ATT & CK

Quantification of Mycobacterium bovis transmission in a badger vaccine field trial.

open access: yesPreventive Veterinary Medicine, 2018
In the UK and Ireland, Bacille Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccination of badgers has been suggested as one of a number of strategies to control or even eradicate Mycobacterium bovis infection in badgers.
