Xenia in bahiagrass: gene expression at initial seed formation

Seed Science Research, 2018
AbstractXenia is the direct effect of pollen genotype on the development and characteristics of the seed and fruit in the period that spans from fertilization to seed germination. Xenia effects cause phenotypic variations in the seed and fruit, which have importance for seed and fruit production but are not heritable to the progeny. Two hypotheses have

Nitrogen fertilizer source effects on bahiagrass responses

Crops & Soils, 2017
Nitrogen (N) is an important agronomic input for bahiagrass production in Florida, but different N sources may not be equally effective when applied to established pastures. The objective of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of various N sources and application levels on bahiagrass herbage accumulation, nutritive value, and N use ...

Storage of Bahiagrass Pollen at Different Temperatures

Crop Science, 2018
Paspalum is an important genus of grasses, and some species are used for forage in the warmer regions of the world. Efforts to develop improved cultivars often require intra‐ and interspecific hybridization, but asynchronous flowering sometimes prevents hybridization between parental species.

Nitrogen Recovery by Bahiagrass from Pelletized Biosolids

1998
Nitrogen fertilization has been shown to increase biomass and quality of bahiagrass (Paspalum notatum Flugge) dramatically in Florida sandy soils. Nevertheless, with low cattle prices, ranchers are forced to reduce fertilizers inputs. Biosolids contain considerable amounts of N and are inexpensive when compared with commercial fertilizers.
