Magnetic Structure of the High‐TN Antiferromagnet La0.5Sr3.5Fe3O7.5F2.6: A Temperature‐Dependent Mößbauer Spectroscopy and Neutron Diffraction Study

open access: yesZeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, EarlyView.
La0.5Sr3.5Fe3O7.5F2.6, a rare n = 3 Ruddlesden–Popper oxyfluoride, exhibits robust antiferromagnetism across a wide temperature range from 1.7 to 470 K. Temperature‐dependent neutron diffraction reveals an orthorhombic nuclear and a monoclinic magnetic structure, while Mößbauer spectroscopy shows persistent short‐range magnetic order up to 525 K.

Mechanism of Quasi‐Power‐Frequency Resonant Overvoltage Triggered by Multiple Lightning Strikes in High‐Voltage Alternating Current Systems Equipped With Shunt Reactor

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper investigates the generation mechanism of quasi‐power‐frequency resonant overvoltage triggered by multiple lightning strikes in high‐voltage alternating current (HVAC) systems equipped with shunt reactors. Based on field measurements from a 500 kV AC system, equivalent and simplified circuit models have been established to analyse ...

Encountering ‘Broken’ Public Services: Defiance and Disaffection at the Frontlines of the Democratic State

open access: yesThe Political Quarterly, EarlyView.
Abstract The apparently parlous state of public services in advanced liberal democracies has become a hot topic, nowhere more so than in ‘broken Britain’. Indeed, there is much debate in both politics scholarship and political rhetoric about the nature and causes of this decline, and its potential remedies. All perspectives are at pains to characterise

Patient Safety and Organisational Accountability: Reassessing Criminal Liability Frameworks in Healthcare

open access: yesThe Modern Law Review, EarlyView.
Serious harm in healthcare often results from systemic failures, yet criminal accountability remains largely addressed through homicide law, gross negligence manslaughter and health‐and‐safety offences, frameworks that emphasise individual culpability and are ill‐suited to addressing organisational failings.

A Tribunal Only in Name: Anarchic Sensibilities at the International Tribunal on Crimes Against Women, 1976

open access: yesHistory, EarlyView.
Abstract In March 1976, around 2000 women from forty countries arrived at the Palais des Congrès in Brussels to participate in the first International Tribunal on Crimes Against Women. Explicitly positioning themselves against the United Nations‐led ‘International Year of the Woman’, the organizers and participants of the tribunal proclaimed a global ...

The Momentum of ‘Developed’: Bodies of Water, Aging Bodies and Malta's Interventions at the UN

open access: yesHistory, EarlyView.
Abstract Histories of major powers continue to shape how many scholars conceptualize internationalism. By focusing on Malta's interventions at the UN challenges, this article challenges such narrative. In particular, it examines Arvid Pardo's 1967 petition that the seabed be reconceived and protected as the ‘common heritage of mankind’ and Vincent ...

Mother and Daughter Technique Using a Low-Profile Microcatheter for Navigating a Complete Radial Artery Loop

open access: yesIndian Journal of Neurosurgery
Radial loops are infrequent; however, they are a major cause for failure of radial access for procedure. Interventionists should be familiar with bail-out techniques when a radial loop is encountered to avoid spasm/injury. We describe our experience with

Criminal Records as Classification Situations

open access: yesThe British Journal of Sociology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Marion Fourcade and Kieran Healy developed the notion of “classification situations” to describe how ordinal schema that sort and rank individuals, like credit scores, are used to differentiate opportunities, prices, and services in ways that structure life chances while masking inequality as meritocratic.
