Fully Additive Vertical Organic Electrochemical Transistors on Renewable and Compostable Substrates Enable Ultrasensitive Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fully additive vertical organic electrochemical transistors (vOECTs) with channel‐length of 226 nm on a 50 µm compostable substrate achieve >106 current modulation and ∼36 mS transconductance. Ion‐selective integration enables 1.1 mA dec−1 sensitivity and 36 µm detection limit, highlighting a scalable platform for sustainable electronics and ...

Colorimetric Enzymatic Assay of L-Malic Acid Using Dehydrogenase from Baker’s Yeast

open access: yesFood Technology and Biotechnology, 2008
A colorimetric method has been developed and optimized to measure L-malic acid in samples of fruit juices and wine. This method is based on oxidation of the analyte, catalyzed by malate dehydrogenase (MDH) from dry baker’s yeast, and in combination with ...

Single-Step Gene Knockout of the SUC2 Gene in Saccharomyces cerevisiae : A Laboratory Exercise for Undergraduate Students

open access: yesJournal of Microbiology & Biology Education, 2018
This article describes a relatively straightforward procedure to knock out the gene that encodes the invertase enzyme in baker’s yeast. The SUC2 gene, which encodes for the invertase enzyme, is knocked out by a single-step PCR knock out method.

An application of $ p $-adic Baker method to a special case of Jeśmanowicz' conjecture

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics, 2023
<p>In 1956, Jeśmanowicz conjectured that, for any positive integer $ n $, the Diophantine equation $ \left((f^{2}-g^{2})n\right)^{x}+\left((2fg)n\right)^{y} = \left((f^{2}+g^{2})n\right)^z $ has only the positive integral solution $ (x, y, z) = (2, 2, 2) $, where $ f $ and $ g $ are positive integers with $ f &gt; g $, gcd$ (f,

Graphene Quantum Dot‐Induced Microstrain for Framework Stabilization of High‐Entropy Prussian Blue Analog in High‐Current Alkaline Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The intrinsic distortion‐rich lattice of HEPBA with GQD‐enabled microstrain engineering establishes a mechanistic route toward high‐performance alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction. HEPBA inherently feature heterogeneous local coordination environments arising from multimetal incorporation, while properly introducing GQD during coprecipitation ...

Determinação seletiva de tributilestanho na presença de Sn(IV) em amostras ambientais usando HG-ICP OES e Saccharomyces cerevisiae como material sorvente Selective determination of tributyltin in the presence of Sn(IV) in environmental samples using HG-ICP OES and Saccharomyces cerevisiae as sorbing material

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2010
A method for selective determination of tributyltin in the presence of Sn(IV) by combining hydride generation inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (HG-ICP OES) and solid phase extraction (SPE) using baker's yeast is proposed.

Quantitative results of algebraic independence and Baker's method [PDF]

open access: yesActa Arithmetica, 2005
Let \(\wp\) be a Weierstrass elliptic function with algebraic invariants \(g_{2}\), \(g_{3}\), let \(\beta\) be an algebraic number of degree \(\delta\geq 2\) over the field \(F\) of complex multiplication of the associated elliptic curve, \(u\) a complex number such that \(u\not\in\mathbb Q(\beta)\) and such that \(u,\beta u,\dots,\beta^{\delta-1}u ...

Polarization‐Dependent Synaptic‐Like Electro‐Optical Response in Ferroelectric Nematic Liquid Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ferroelectric nematic liquid crystals (FNLCs) offer fast, tunable polarization and low‐voltage operation but suffer from poor polarization retention at zero field. Semiconductor‐modified FNLCs enhance polarization retention and exhibit short‐ and long‐term electro‐optical responses, while also supporting spike‐type signal integrations.

Effects of Fermentation by Yeast and Amylolytic Lactic Acid Bacteria on Grain Sorghum Protein Content and Digestibility

open access: yesJournal of Food Quality, 2018
Despite many advantages to its cultivation, grain sorghum is an underutilized crop because of low nutrient availability, particularly protein digestibility, due to antinutritional compounds in the grain and by moist-heat cooking.
