Perspective: Balance Assessments in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy: Lessons Learned

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2022
Many studies have examined aspects of balance in progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), but guidance on the feasibility of standardized objective balance assessments and balance scales in PSP is lacking.

Vestibular-evoked myogenic potentials in miniature pigs

open access: yesJournal of Otology, 2016
Objective: To report detection of vestibular-evoked myogenic potentials (VEMPs) in the miniature pig. Methods: Potentials evoked by 1000 Hz tone bursts were recorded from neck extensor muscles and the masseter muscles in normal adult Bama miniature pigs ...

Detailed balance = complex balance + cycle balance. A graph-theoretic proof for reaction networks and Markov chains [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
We further clarify the relation between detailed-balanced and complex-balanced equilibria of reversible chemical reaction networks. Our results hold for arbitrary kinetics and also for boundary equilibria. Detailed balance, complex balance, "formal balance", and the new notion of "cycle balance" are all defined in terms of the underlying graph.

Principle of Balance and the Sea Content of the Proton [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev. D65 (2002) 114005, 2002
In this study, the proton is taken as an ensemble of quark-gluon Fock states. Using the principle of balance that every Fock state should be balanced with all of the nearby Fock states (denoted as the balance model), instead of the principle of detailed balance that any two nearby Fock states should be balanced with each other (denoted as the detailed ...

Leveraging current insights on IL‐10‐producing dendritic cells for developing effective immunotherapeutic approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In vivo IL‐10 produced by tissue‐resident tolDC is involved in maintaining/inducing tolerance. Depending on the agent used for ex vivo tolDC generation, cells acquire common features but prime T cells towards anergy, FOXP3+ Tregs, or Tr1 cells according to the levels of IL‐10 produced. Ex vivo‐induced tolDC were administered to patients to re‐establish/

FoxO1 signaling in B cell malignancies and its therapeutic targeting

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FoxO1 has context‐specific tumor suppressor or oncogenic character in myeloid and B cell malignancies. This includes tumor‐promoting properties such as stemness maintenance and DNA damage tolerance in acute leukemias, or regulation of cell proliferation and survival, or migration in mature B cell malignancies.

Prefrontal cortical activation measured by fNIRS during walking: effects of age, disease and secondary task [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2019
Background Cognitive processes are required during walking to appropriately respond to environmental and task demands. There are now many studies that have used functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS) to record brain activation to investigate ...

Dose- and application route-dependent effects of betahistine on behavioral recovery and neuroplasticity after acute unilateral labyrinthectomy in rats

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2023
IntroductionBetahistine is widely used for the treatment of various vestibular disorders. However, the approved oral administration route and maximum daily dose are evidently not effective in clinical trials, possibly due to a major first-pass metabolism
