Integrating ecosocial policies through polycentric governance: A study of the green transformation of Danish vocational education and training

open access: yesRegulation &Governance, EarlyView.
Abstract How can polycentric governance promote the development of ecosocial policies within existing policy systems? Through a study of green reforms of Danish vocational education, the paper argues that polycentric governance institutions are particularly useful at engaging constituent actors in innovation and constructive collaboration over ...

Optimum Chemical Balance Weighing Design under Certain Condition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 62K05, 05B05.The problem of estimation of unknown weights of p objects is considered. The experiment is carried out according to the standard Gauss-Markoff model of the chemical balance weighing design.

Beyond Political Control and Bureaucratic Protection: Public Appointments for the Formation of Programmatic Groups and Representative Bureaucracy

open access: yesReview of Policy Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Public appointments shape the top‐level bureaucracy by serving as a gateway for professionals with different profiles, chosen based on different criteria. In general, the literature has been more interested in analyzing appointments based on merit or sponsorship, based on verification of loyalty to the government or technical competence ...

Soil Properties and Plant Species Identity Independently Influence Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungal Composition Across Lowland Tropical Forests

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 2, March 2026.
We found that plant species identity and soil properties, especially soil phosphorus availability, independently structured arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal (AMF) community composition in tropical forests across central Panama. We also found that soil nutrient availability may mediate the interaction networks between plants and AMF. ABSTRACT Plant species

Probabilistic existence of regular combinatorial structures

open access: yes, 2017
We show the existence of regular combinatorial objects which previously were not known to exist. Specifically, for a wide range of the underlying parameters, we show the existence of non-trivial orthogonal arrays, t-designs, and t-wise permutations.

Unlocking landscape transient dynamics: Integrating traditional ecological knowledge for enhanced analysis of land‐use changes and forest expansion in a Mediterranean ecosystem

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 8, Issue 2, Page 283-300, February 2026.
Abstract The Industrial Revolution triggered rural abandonment in Europe and had a profound impact on land configuration and ecosystem dynamics, mainly the growth of forests at the expense of open agricultural habitats. However, rural abandonment has been asynchronous in space and time, depending on regional socio‐economic dynamics.

Supply chain network optimization with environmental impacts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Traditionally the design of supply chains has been based on economic objectives. As societal environment concerns grow, environmental aspects are also emerging, at the industry level, as decisive factors within the context of supply chain management. The

Dietary DNA Metabarcoding From Animal Fecal Samples

open access: yesCurrent Protocols, Volume 6, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Fecal DNA metabarcoding is a powerful tool for examining animal diets with unprecedented resolution, offering insights into ecological patterns shaped by trophic interactions. As a result, dietary metabarcoding has become widely applied across ecology, evolution, behavior, and conservation.

A Machine Learning Application to Camera‐Traps: Robust Species Interactions Datasets for Analysis of Mutualistic Networks

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 1, January 2026.
Our study includes novel components, focusing on plant‐animal interaction data as study case. We provide comprehensive guidelines and a proven methodology, aligned with existing camera trap standards, for the creation of reliable datasets, as well as a detailed discussion of limitations and logistic challenges. Beyond presenting AI performance metrics,
